Anyone interested? I'm leading two FJCs out to probably Box Canyon and Martinez Cabins or Lower Ajax or Jackhandle.

Anyone interested in joining us?

Planning to meet at the Walmart in Queen Creek at 10 am.

Sean

Where are you starting from? Cottonwood Canyon or Box Canyon Road? If I don't have to work, I may meet you there (QC is long way around to met for me),

Cottonwood Canyon.....Not sure what time we'll get there. We are meeting in QC (out of my way too) but I didn't know of a better meeting spot since I still don't have my STL permit (haven't been able to get down there on my Fridays off yet).

Let me know if you are seriously contemplating going. I can give you a more firm time as to when we should hit Cottonwood Canyon and hwy 79, or we could meet at the first cattle guard on CC where the BLM land starts.

Sean - where are you coming from? When going there(FJ), we usually meet at the Basha's off the 60, about a mile and a half after the freeway ends and maybe 7 miles before the 79 turnoff. Big parking lot, place to grab food for lunch, etc. Whipp and I are both thinking of going. I'll know better tonite if I can swing it...

Normally, that's where I would meet or......lately I've been meeting at the first cattle guard (with people familiar with the area) on BLM land on the Cottonwood Canyon road. I'm going to see about changing places to meet these guys so that no one ends up backtracking. Queen Creek is pretty far out of my way.

Here's a link to the thread on fjcruiserforums.com:

Linky no worky. I - or we, depending - will probably meet you at the cattle guard then. Just found out no HOA Arch Comm walk thru Saturday AM, so I'm free, I think. I'll keep posted and got to the other forum...

Hmmm....works for me. Try going to www.fjcruiserforums.com then to the forum.

Then scroll down to the Regional Forums....then to South West Region....then to the thread called "Superstitions anyone 2-10"

I'm planning to try and meet them sometime after 10 at the Cottonwood Canyon and Hwy 79 intersection (but not in the dirt lot b/c it's STL)....maybe on the side of the Hwy on the west side of the paved road. I'm still going to drop my trailer and unload at the first cattle guard.

Carl,
What's "Whipp" driving?

Sean

***EDIT*** oh, and it looks like the group wants to do Martinez Cabins. I'll make it a little interesting by giving the trail head starts for Upper Woodpecker, Lower Woodpecker, Lower Ajax, Axle Alley, Jack Handle, etc. and throw in a few optional obstacles on the way if everyone wants.

Whipp's got an 80 w/ brand spankin' new Slee Sliders;) , otherwise pretty stock.

I navigated over to the other forum and actually am over there sometimes - just not since 17 Jan.

The ride to the cabins is nice, scenic and easy but for one little rocky patch which could challenge the stockers, it challenged me last time I went in, but that was before lift and skids. Woodpecker and Ajax are great exposure 'cuz you can pick your obstacles or bypasses.

I would definitely prefer Lower Ajax or Upper Woodpecker, but I'm not sure how the two FJCs would feel about it (one has no sliders at all).

I'm assuming you're talking about the rocky patch before the cabins themselves or do you mean the "ledge" at the beginning of Box? If you're talking about the latter....we can bypass the ledge by going by the "out" for Axle Alley and dropping into Box.

Sean

The step or ledge is cake for a stocker - it looks imitdating but is easy. The spot I'm talking about is the rocky patch before the cabins. Actually, the step builds confidence in those who have not been there before - I'm an example..

Carl

Ya, I can't see the ledge being a problem.....but someone else might feel differently. The scenery is definitely better going around.

So, you think you and Whipp will be coming along? Looks like we'll probably be at the cattle guard by 10:30 or just after.

Sean

I'll speak to craig at work today. I'm pretty sure I'm going - I havent been out since the 29th of Dec and I wanna see your buggy!

Carl

Seems fjcruisersforum.com has been down most of the day. If anyone from that site comes here (I linked them to this thread before the site went down) please post up and let me know we're still on for sure.

I'm going to stick to the plan we decided on there unless I hear otherwise.

Sean

Whipp and I are in. We're meeting at 09:00 at 48th and Baseline @ the QT. Oh, and some have been known to refer to me as the "Late Blues Dog". PM me your cell# and I'll call if we are behind. also we'll be on CB channel 4 in FJ.
