Howdy fellow cruiserheads,

I'm an 80 series owner looking to add to the fleet, and have located a 100 series in FL that I'm quite interested in. Seeing as I'm in Kansas City, MO, I was wondering if someone who is fairly familiar with 100s would be willing to look at the vehicle? It's in Spring Hill.

Thanks, in advance!

P.S. - Is rust an issue in FL? I assumed not, but have to wonder with the humidity.

I'm not sure how many 100 series folks are around!

Rust isn't an issue in FL unless the rig was used to tow boats (salt water) or maybe if it stayed outside in a beach community.

I'd be perfectly happy and thankful if ANYBODY would look at it. =)

Let's put it this way - rust isn't an issue on any Cruiser later than 1990.

Good to know! Would you that as long as it hasn't spent a lot of time near the beach that it ought to be completely rust free? Or is it realistic to expect some surface rust on certain components (muffler, undercarriage bolts, skid plates, etc.)?

I wouldn't worry about it. The oldest 100 series is only 15 years old.

That said I'd still get someone to check it out. Doesn't needy I be a "100 expert", just someone willing to crawl under with a discerning eye. However I don't know if anyone from here lives in that area.

Thanks for the comment. I would be thankful for anyone with a discerning to look at it. Please just let me know. I would make it worth their time.

They say that northern vehicles rust from the bottom up and Florida vehicles rust from the top down. So yes things rust here. The guys are right though if it wasn't used to put boats in and out and if it didn't spend a lot of time at the beach etc... I would love to help but I am in Nalpes.

Final say on the rust issue - YES things rust here, my 62's roof is pretty shot - but I've never seen a rusty 100 or 80 series. In Florida or anywhere.

Matt, you need to get out more :) Go spend some time in the 80s section and you'll see quite a bit. Heck, I just found rust starting at the top of my tailgate lid... and mines never been out of the state for more than a few weeks at a time.

Just head west. =) I've seen 100s with holes in them. My 80 has rust on the hatch and it spent its first 10 years in Georgia. Our winters are rough. And salty.

Thanks guys!
