i used to have what i remembered as an FAQ on the factory alarm delte for the LX450. i can't find the print out and now i cant find the info in the FAQ. elsewhere there was a mention of one on Christo's site which i sort of remember but i can't find anything there. i am going to search for "rising sun" because i know they have good info. anyway does anyone have any good links for a good write up on this? THANKS

If you have a Toyota RS3000 factory alarm, I would reconsider removing the factory harness. You can keep the harness installed and add an aftermarket alarm/keyless entry system using the product below.

ah. so it paid off for me to put off doing this for years and years and years? and it /really/ paid off for me to hazard a post on it?
THANKS CSHOT! looking forward to reading that one!

No problem. It paid off to be lazy. ;)
I removed mine before this product was available otherwise I would have kept it on. Luckily, I kept my harness so I only had to reinstall it.

thanks again. did you put a new piezo in?
is there anything i need to check for aside from the fact i am almost sure mine said 3000?
like i've never even thought of the alarm and i wouldn't even know - well aside from having a very weird clicking sound when trying to charge my battery so i had to disconnect the ground cable - that i even had an alarm.
do you know if there is more than one option for the look of the remotes?(!)

hmmm. i guess i need to check for this on the dash. for some reason i don't remember...

I’d get a new piezo just in case.
The factory alarm should have the RS3000 marking on the main unit under the driver seat. If you are unsure, take some photos of the main unit and send them to @Lutz Auto for confirmation.
This product lends itself to essentially any alarm/keyless entry system you want, so it’s a matter of preference at this point.

If there are two plugs going to the alarm box under the seat it's a RS3000.

1 plug is the tvs alarm, both function the same but have different harnesses.
My alarm box on my 97 LX450 has 3 plugs on it and it's a factory alarm.

Finally found a site that had a copy of the rs3000 installation instructions. This might also help in removing it, if that's what you want to do.
