Fan To Radiator Clearance Issue (1 Viewer)

How much clearance should there be between the fan and radiator?

A general internet search came up with a consensus that an inch clearance is the minimum. I did find some street rods that claimed 1/2" clearance. I imagine that MIGHT be ok for a street rig, probably very risky with an off road rig and the potential flex factor.

The red hub is okay. I think the only difference on the hub color is for when the fan clutch decides to "unlock" and begin to do its intended work. The color represents a certain temperature for when the fan clutch decides to release.

They should all be interchangeable. I'm running a green hub fan clutch off of an fj80 on a 1F engine that was not fitted with one from the factory.

Whoa! I had no idea there was different colored clutch fan hubs, and that the colors relate to the operation of the fan via a thermostat. That's AWESOME.
