Fan shroud looks nackered. soooo

First question: is there an easy way to get it out?
Second question: if not then how does it come out?

TIA

Removing the fan is the easiest way, etc then out through the top. I placed an online order recently for a new shroud and it was cancelled due to lack of inventory. The dealership told me they couldn’t find one in the entire country....3 days or so ago. Have not checked partsouq yet....

An alternative is to split the fan shroud in two for easy install and removal.

It does look like a real PITA to change. No way I'm trying to wriggle it out, with those radiator fins behind.

So you say take the fan off, that would be these bolts:

Don't see how it could be anything else, can't see anything else reachable.
Pretty easy with a breaker bar, would hit it with WD40 with rag underneath before hand (belts surrounding)

That sounds ridiculouce , albeit , slightly unbelievable. I can get them online (Ebay) for $100 delivered Australian dollar. Not sure what the hell the quality is like.

Got my replacement door handles off the same dealer as that $100 fan shroud. Tempted out of buying it, the chrome paint in those is starting to show tiny bubbles. Look like cheap stuff

Yes, the four nuts pictured come off the studs holding the fan on. Use a long screw driver or pry bar to hold it steady as you undo the nuts as the fan will spin on you.

That’s simply what they told me when I called after receiving an email notifying me my money was being refunded and order cancelled. This was Kings Toyota of Cincinnati....they’ve served me well in the past but it does seem odd.

Cheers.

Not sure about a diesel LC, but on the 2UZ, you unbolt the shroud, unbolt the fan then pull both out together. Not too difficult, just takes a little finesse.

Correct (on U.S. Market petrol models), unbolt the shroud, unbolt the fan. Also there is an A/C line that runs across the top of the shroud...but you can release the brackets there and push the line towards the back of the engine a bit. This allows room to pull the shroud straight up along with the fan. At about the midway point you can pull the fan out before lifting the shroud the rest of the way.

I recommend covering the backside of the radiator with a piece of cardboard to avoid bending the fins before removing the fan and lifting it out.

Was not going to mention it, but while inspecting how broken the bottom of the shroud was (which I believe is unrepairable) the white fan props looks to have been hitting the broken /flapping shroud piece that has come off quite a bit. Probably at some point that piece has gone over the top and into the middle near the fan props and hit them. There is black plastic stuck on each prop tip. I will see how wrecked that is a bit better tommorrow to see if I need to buy both now. They look to be ok, prolly just clean off the melted black plastic stuck on each fan prop.

FZJ105 = 1FZ-FE, so just do what the 80 series guys do to get the shroud and fan with clutch out. From @medtro Fan clutch removal tips
