Hi there I just wanted to know other peoples knowledge on the topic I have two overdrive units but built into the transfer case and been trying to get one that sits on the back of the transfer case for a future build I have found a guy that has one but just wanted to know what those ones are worth I have seen photos it’s not complete and don’t know if it works or not what’s some things to look out for
Also be interested if anyone has one complete in working order and for sale

Sounds like your comparing the 8/80+ split transfer case Fairy overdrive that replaces the whole back of the split transfer case to the E-7/80 that bolts to the back of the transfer case and replaces the parts in the transfer that ride on the transmission output shaft. The early style used ten or sixteen spline. The 8/80+ is nineteen spline. Unless your using a rare four speed that had 10 spline output shaft with a ten spline overdrive plan on a three speed. Sixteen spline overdrive was early 74 when the H41/H42 started intil 7/80. After that was a different transfer case with a different Fairy overdrive.

I believe the later split case uses all ball bearings verses the earlier style uses some small needle bearings. My guess it is stronger with larger ball bearings. My problem is the later split case overdrive take away then PTO winch option. The earlier style for the one piece transfer case still allows the factory PTO to be used if you have the Fairey PTO gear. Standard PTO gear inside the transfer case will not work.

Yea that’s what I was hoping to do with a future build have the overdrive and pto but was also hoping to mount either transfer case to a 5 speed Box want to build something one of a kind was also looking into low pressure twin turbo 2h
