I was kinda thinking around 4000. Need the assist from mud... I could have a buyer for my 87 toyota pickup so I will have the cash flow soon

If it does not have rust and the PM and head gasket has been done, then maybe close to asking price. But it will really depend on condition. Some people will say 2k, but I don't think you can get a good dependable truck for that price.

What is your plan for a vehicle? Wheel it ?

I plan on it being a daily driver with mild buildup no crazy wheeling unless somehow I run into a lot of money and a lot of time hah!
I will check the carfax again but it had some pm done over the course of its life.

That dent on the rear quarter can be banged out i'll bet. Ask for pics under the rear 1/2 of the truck, and ask what new parts were installed and by who. The cooling system is a weak link. Ask about the front axle, it needs to be serviced about every 100k miles.

I asked the seller those questions. Waiting response. He did say he replaced oil pump seal, valve cover gasket, distributor cap, breaks and plugs. He says no rust on undercarriage.. We will see if he sends photos

He said his mechanic replaced the parts. The wheel bearings have been replaced. No issus with the head gasket since he and his family have owned it.

Unfortunately, when I checked CL in your area and further to the MD area that is the only one that is worth a look.

undercarriage.

Undercarriage from those pics has no rust. But looks like there is an oil leak there somewhere. Nothing serious.
Check out the for sale section here on mud too.

Well, time is on your side if you don't need one right now. On the other hand you can go check it out and see what it is worth. It's free to look at it. Read up on how to check for hg failure and what a front axle looks like when it needs a rebuild. Dents scare most people. But that thing may be gone soon.

I'm several hours away so I will need to make time for a day to do the drive. However, I offered 4k. The undercarriage looks like it was sprayed with undercoating. I'm going to need to take a closer look.

NO RUST!!! That's nothing but rust painted over with prob. POR15. Have a hard look at the surface of the rear diff.
$3000 tops due to the obvious rust on the undercarriage.

$3000K tops or walk. That 80 has a lot of rust damage that has been painted over on the undercarriage. I personally would wait for a better buy. Would rather pay 5K for a solid rust free undercarriage than 3K for one that obviously has a lot of rust issues.
Walk and wait for a better one...

ah so it's not an oil leak.
