That's a clean looking 80, but at that price range you can get into a nicely built rig. There was a really nice 3x locked grey 97 with similar mileage plus some decent upgrades for $18k. Personally I'd be more interested in negotiating for something like the 97 if it's close to your price point.

The eBay seller might come down a couple grand, but I wouldn't expect much more than that.

It's hard to put a price tag on something like that (especially if you're set on the color or something else unique about a particular cruiser), but if I were in the market i would probably be looking to spend no more than about $10-11k for the 96, and probably about $15-16k on the 97. Just my $.02....

His asking price is simply no where near the realm of possibilities, currently at least. Personally I am of the opinion that a year or two from now as these become rarer and rarer, 80s in that condition will be snatched up left and right for that price.

IMO what that truck is worth right now based on CURRENT values and including all the specifics (that year, that mileage, that condition, no lockers, etc.) is about $9-10k. Will the seller take that offer? Almost certainly not. But I would imagine that is listed on ebay for quite some time at that price.

As I am in the market for an FZJ or LX, I saw this listing on evilBay as well. And I agree 100% with your take on the price. Of course, that one is not even the highest priced Cruiser on the Bay...

Since I am not looking for a pristine LC or LX...I will pass on paying that kind of money. If I could find a 3X locked unit with a dead engine, I will be set since my ultimate goal is a diesel powered 80 series.

Can somebody show me a solid example of one this nice that sold for 9-10 recently? The one thing missing, tho, is chassis photos on a PA vehicle.

That's a dealer in PA (European Motorcars I think), always has numerous 80's and LX's for sale. Pics of them all look really good but I'm betting they find the majority of these at actions and then refurbish them. They all look like fresh repaints, new leathers, tires, etc. etc.

I would start with a search on "Car Cheer" and "Europa Online" before investigating prices. There appears to be a definite history there. A quick check of their feedback also seems to point out that they mostly buy car parts on eBay and rarely actually sell cars on eBay.
I was enamored of their stuff once, but a little investigating changed my mind.

Hi - I bought my LX450 from that outfit. I paid 12k with 177k miles. He was asking $13,900. The vehicle did have some problems but nothing too bad - cost me another few grand to get it right with OEM parts (would have been MUCH less with aftermarket parts - the pwr steering hose alone costs a small fortune)- great paint, whistle clean interior, no rattles and no rust anywhere, clean car fax, etc. - his prices are higher than the guy next door but he does get some good vehicles. That's my experience anyway. Hope it helps.

I forgot to mention the one I bought has front and rear lockers... I really wanted a black 96 or 97 with lockers - not so easy to find and I was willing to pay a bit of a premium for that combo too.

there are hundreds of 80 series for sale posts on this website. Just read through them and get an idea.
You are not getting it, please point me to one that is this nice for 9-10. Everybody keeps talking about it, but I just don't see it. 100's? My a$$. Why sure we can find one from two years ago...

that is a nice one, but its like any car....its worth what someone will pay.

if it's been sitting, then they are asking too much. plain and simple.

there are hundreds, ranging from cheap to expensive, that are for sale, have sold, haven't sold over the past year here on this site. Ebay too. and craigslist. Anyone can can research this.

you have to decide what you value, your max price, and what you want to work on. They all need work, even the 'nice' ones.

Its 100% up to you....if you like it and have the money, buy it. Prices are all over the board for land cruisers, based on location, miles, mods, year, lockers, rust, and any number of 100 other variables. The seller even put 'grill guard' in the top of the description. That $100 mod shouldn't matter to any land cruiser buyer, but obviously the seller thinks someone cares, and maybe they do. Everyone is different.

There will always be a better deal, regardless of when you buy.

Toss an offer out there, worst they can say is no.

I get it.

Thanks zapatius

You're welcome - I'm always looking at prices, convincing myself to restore as I go instead of just drive them into the ground.

I paid $1800 for my 62 and $2800 for my 80, so I'm on the low end of the market!

I would suggest getting pics of undercarriage and be very wary of east coast cars - especially FL, and 2/3 of those were FL cars - just a thought.

Im new to the forum and Toyota world, Ive always been a jeep guy. With that being said Im looking to buy a LC 100 or a LX470. Have any of you guys heard or seen any vehicles for sale by some people in Florida called Kings Chariots (EBAY)?? They always have nice stuff come up for sale, but I dont have a clue on the prices of these trucks. There are two for sale on ebay now by them. Are their prices super high or is it fair pricing for such nice rigs?? Thanks, Casey
