I'm adding to 2 8" residential blocks to my wall. It's going to be about 80 blocks total.

Then having the build a small screen wall (L shape) off an existing wall for trash cans. This will be about 7 blocks on about 110 total length run.

Qoute is $825 for the project. One day of work.

Is that a fair price?
Can't get any other people to come look at the project so it's hard to compare.

Are you saying you are adding two courses of 4x8x16 block to an existing wall that will be 40 blocks long?

Is 7 blocks the height? Is 110 the length of the block wall in blocks, feet or inches? Is a footer needed or is this being added on top of a slab?

Small jobs will carry a high premium on a per foot or block basis.

To answer your first question yes, 2 course of 40 blocks to an existing wall.

And yes, 7 blocks tall.
110" is in the total length because is an L shape. A footer will be added.

Should have been more clear in my original post.
Thanks!

It doesn't sound like a bad price to me if you are comfortable with the person you got the bid from.

I assume your talking about a fence when you say wall. What's the Height of your current fence. I know a lot of cities allow 6' fence from the front of the house back and shorter fences in front of the house. Anything else requires a variance. If you don't have one your likely tearing it down and starting from scratch if a neighbor complains.

While I have nothing to add to the cost I know from past experience finding someone interested in doing a small masonry project is tough. Years ago I got a bunch of used brick I want to use the best of as veneer on the front of my house. The guy who I got the bricks from it was always beer thirty after work and never came by to give a estimate. Couldn't even get someone off CL to come back. Mine was even harder as I already had the brick so mark up. I ended up moving the thousands of bricks with me and using them up making borders around the yard. Anyone know of a good mason guy in the Peoria area I've still have a pallet worth of the best ones I would like a barbeque made so I could insert a propane gill.
