My truck has the factory tow prep package (7 pin) but I do not have a hitch on the truck. It was used when I got it so I'm not sure if it was removed or just never came with one.
Does anyone know what the sticker on the factory oem hitch is rated to (I don't mean the truck rating)? I saw a LC in the parking lot today with a sticker on its hitch with 6500 lbs tow and 975 tongue weight when used with a weight distribution hitch. None of the aftermarket offerings from Etrailer (online vendor) are rated that high so I assume the one I saw is a Toyota OEM hitch.
I realize the the truck is not rated for 975lb tongue weight.
Can anyone confirm for me? None of the places I've found that sell the OEM hitch give a rating other than Class IV which probably tells me all I need to know but I'm hoping someone is willing to go look at their truck and confirm it for me.
