A question for those of you with a factory alarm (this may be everyone, I suspect all 100's are equipped with a factory alarm), does your system emit a chirp when the alarm is set?

Mine does not. Perhaps there is something amiss here.

Thanks in advance.

I don't think mine does. If it did, it would annoy me and I would have found and killed the piece that makes the sound.

My 4Runner (2003) used to do that but I silenced (removed) it!

I believe, all US market LX470's had the chirping alarm. Early LC100's with the alarm didn't chirp. Not sure about the later 100's. You can add the Lexus Piezo buzzer if you choose. Those equipped can also disable the chirp.

Thank God mine does not. I hate those things. :D

I am a chirper - wish it was stealth.....

The 06 does not chirp

Dealer coding option

I think the chirp on/chirp off option was something our dealer changed for us when we took delivery of the car.

I seem to remember a couple of items that were programmable.

This was before I bought the FSM and I don't recall any details. I haven't gone looking for it. I prefer the quiet sound of lock solenoids flipping.

Thanks all! Just wondering if something had gone awry. Seems that the chirp placates the owner rather than providing any meaningful value to the task of theft prevention.

The golden silence will continue with my Cruiser as will the mods; 285's last week, Slee sliders next with a Slee rear bumper/tire carrier following soon thereafter, front ARB is on the horizon!

No chirpy on the 02 either.

No chirp on the '00 or the '06. Hate the damned things.

Next time I go in I am going to see if they can reprogram it for stealth operation.

I don't think mine has the alarm. When you lock/unlock the car w/ the remote, there is a subtle "beep," the turning signals flash, and the immobilizer is activated, but this is not an alarm. I'm under the impression that vehicles w/ alarm systems have them dealer/port installed.

If you want to see I think this would set off the alarm if there is one. Sit in the car with the key not in the ignition. Press the door lock button on the key. Then manually unlock the door by moving the door lock over (not the unlock doors button). Then open the door. If there is an alarm I would think this would set if off, unless they have a weight sensor in the drivers seat. In that case you could do the same thing through a lowered window.

I would try it and let you know, but I am driving 60 today. 100 is at the dealer for the timing belt, water pump, etc......

By the way, on my wifes 2006 100, there is a glass breakage alarm also.

No chirp on my 00... Pops has an 06 Tacoma, his chirped then he left the dome light on overnight and killed the battery.. He charge the battery and the chirp was gone..
