I'm a rookie, and recently purchased a '67 FJ40. The F135 engine is running, and I need to keep it that way !!
I've never maintained an engine like this before. I've never handled air/oil filters like this before.
Are there any threads or literature on how this is done properly ?

I just gave away a F FSM (Factory Service Manuel) last weekend, maybe 68LC could let you borrow it and you could copy what you want lot of cool illustrations

If it's running good now, get a good baseline on it - do a compression test, get a vacuum gauge on it to see if you've got any hidden issues (65swb45 had a thread on that somewhere), and hook up a manual oil pressure gauge at least to test (do not assume the factory electric is correct. Intake/exhaust manifold leaks are pretty common, neither is good. If you ever pull the pan, have a peak at the bearings.

Adjust the valves regularly, make sure they're getting enough oil, check the timing, keep the Aisin carb, make sure the vaccum and mechanical advance are working in the distributor, keep an eye on what the plugs are telling you, keep the rpm's down and enjoy.

Mine are on yearly oil changes because mileage is pretty meaningless. :doh:

i just drove It what a dream, engine and carb seam as good as It get's Just need to ajust brakes and clutch later go with a petronix converson :cheers:
