Hey Guys,

I noticed the other day that to add to my list of issues - when I fill the Sub Fuel tank up, the needle goes right up - then after abotu 3-4 days the needle drops to the 3/4 mark , so I am obviously loosing fuel somewhere.

Does anyone know of any quick wins - easy places to start looking to see where the leak is?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards

Ryan

I have the same issue. I filled it up. then not use it. then when I checked it, it's not full anymore. so now i just decided to only fill it half on the next refuel...

i guess it's not more of an issue. maybe there is a breather inside the tank that transfers the fuel from sub tank to main tank. (just a guess! lol)

did you try to fill up the subtank after some time of not using it to make sure the level has actually gone down and that it's not just a gauge issue?

well, then, if there is no evidence of outside leak as in wetness or smell, it must have gone to the main tank somehow. You could fill up the sub, use only (ostensibly) the main, check the consumption and see if you get much better mileage than you'd normally expect. And try again with a not so full sub and see if there is a difference.

Or you have crafty neighbors... :D

If you have two separate solenoids, one to switch the fuel source and one to switch the fuel return, I'd start by checking the solenoids. The sub tank fuel return could be dumping into your main tank... or pulling from your sub tank but indicating your main.... something like that.

From what I know is that this is normal.
Both tanks, the main and the sub, have a fuel pump.
To avoid problems with the sub tank pump, every time you start the car there will be fuel pumped from the sub tank. This keeps the pump lubricated and working. Otherwise you could end up with a full sub tank, empty main tank and a sub tank ump not working.

Thanks Guys

That is useful to know - I am going away for a week so what I will do is fill the tank up and then leave it for a week - if it has not moved since the week then I know its either a solenoid or the startup process

I cant smell any fuel normally. I can only smell a slight waft when I park the car in a closed car park, but it only lasts for a second then I cant smell it anymore, no wet patches on the ground .

What is the best way to test a solenoid is working?

Thanks

Ryan
