Wondering if anyone can help? I just installed a new hell creek 2.5 suspension lift. When i was tightening the shackles they were pointed a little towards the back. Took it out for a test drive and the dumb things are pointing straight towards the front bumber. What happened, is there a fix?

Post a pic of the thing.

Are the rear springs on the front and the front on the rear???

Just a thought but are the front and rear springs the same length? Maybe the springs are on the wrong ends? I thought that the front and rear springs on a 60 were different lengths but I could be wrong.

-how odd, winslow and I posted the same thought at the exact same time......weird!

The rear springs have a larger center pin that will not fit on the front end, so the thoughts of getting the two backwards is eliminated. And the instructions indicate that the wrapped ends of the front springs go to the back and that is the way the old ones came off so---, are the springs just too long?

The springs are somehow the wrong length. Front to rear switched?

Can be solved by longer shackles up front.

Don't drive it like that. It will try to rip the hangers off on compression!

man, that doesn't look too good.

get longer or different shackles.
or make a "bump stop" so the shackle can't jam like that.

Coño!!!!!! That really looks wrong!!

Is there any obvious sign that the rear spring mount on the frame has been tampered with i.e. it got moved forward?

rear springs are on the front.. Did you install the rears too?

I am betting they may have sent you two sets of rears by mistake.

I installed the rears as well. None were marked front or rear but like i said earlier the rear springs center alignment pin is way larger than the front. So the backs and the front springs are not backwards. It all mounted up well. This forward pitch happened on a short test drive and taking on a very light hill to climb near us. I checked the center pins on the front springs thinking that i might not have tightened the hangers well and the whole thing somehow slipped forward, but after checking the center is still in alignment and still tight. These are also I far as i am aware, stock shackles.

Wow! That does not look good. I think those springs are too long. Either that, or they are not intended to be run with stock length shackles?

What truck are these on? Year, make, model?

Quick way to check if you have two sets of rears: count the number of leaves. I know that there are more leaves in the rear in all setups, but not sure how many more. If both pairs of springs have the same leaf count, then I would put money on you having two pairs of rear springs.

Unload your suspension and get those springs back down before somethin bad happens. The rear springs for a 60 have the pin quite a bit off center. The front springs have the pin in the center so it should be fairly simple to tell if you have the wrong springs. OME springs also have an "overload" leaf on the rears only, so it's hard to mix them up, but I've never used your particular brand so I'm not sure about them. If your springs are correct, you certainly need a set of longer shackels. That should cure what ails you. Don't be too concerned that you need the shackles, it will help articulation. A little goes a long way, like an extra inch or inch and a half should do the trick. I had the same issue with the OMEs on the rear; they would invert towards the front so I had to make a longer shackle.
