I know several here have extended the "a" frames of they're m416 and m101's,, anybody have pics of how you did it? I have a few ideas in my head,, but would like to see what everybody else has done.. I've searched and came up with too many hits that led nowhere.. so I thought I'd ask.. also I'm thinking of making it a bolt in like the original,, mainly so it can be returned to original,,
Thanks,
Steve

Some photos to look at. I added 13 inches so my tire carrier bumper would clear and the trailer would not bash the rear of the truck when backing really tight.

Only needed a slight bend in the rail to make it match up with the casting. Rides perfect and tows a bit better because of the slight added length. The pintle hook adds another 8 or 10 inches so the added total length is perfect. Still compact but tows great. It is actually a bit easier to back having a bit of added length. This photo is of the final outcome. The next post still has the old tires and no mounting for the tent

Check this post for the story. Let me know if you need more info.

Hi Steve,

This gentleman's web site, of his trailer rebuild, shows how he extended the trailer tongue. Go to the photo gallery and look at photos 54 through 60 for the tongue extension.

m416 Jeep Trailer

His photo gallery shows every detail of the rebuild.

Good luck with your trailer.

That looks almost factory,, did you use the factory reinforcements?
Steve

No, the factory reinforcements do not work because of the change in angle of the new stock, unless new holes are drilled. I just went with the captive nut and bolted it in.
