Rami and I are planning to do an exploratory run up to his property in Fine,
NY on the weekend of 10/22-23, depending on the weather.
He owns 465 acres of land with a 380' change in elevation. There are access
roads that he has cut and some old logging roads that might need to be
cleared to gain better access. The purpose of this trip is to try to open a
trail or 2 and mark out other trails that we feel would be cool to cut. Once
marked and plotted on a GPS, he would clear the trails as time permits.
While this location is twice the distance from NYC to Dave's Place, it
offers 3 times the area with double the elevation change.
Anyone is welcome and encouraged to come up and help. This could turn into
something very worthwhile for the club.
There are no services available on the property so overnight campers must be
self-sufficient, and leave no trace behind. Trail trucks need to be VERY
well equipped with full recovery gear, winch, etc, to open trails. No leaks,
etc. All GCLC trail guide rules apply. If you're just coming up to help and
camp out then stock will be fine. Chainsaws and the ability to use them will
be appreciated as well as general manpower to move debris.
Please respond to this list if you intend to be there for all or part of the
weekend. Again, this is weather dependent. If it's going to be rainy and
miserable we will pick another weekend.
