here's one of them...don't remember if this was the one i replaced as it's been quite a few years now.

i checked my ledger and it was a vacu valve, part number 90925-03058 that fixed mine

GODDAMM IT!!! After a very long time of no problems with my 60, the popping / exploding sound is back today. It happened three times today!! When it happens you hear the sound and then you get a smell in the cab, almost like the smell of a "cap gun" when you shoot a round. What the hell would cause this just to creep up again. It has not done this in a bout a year or so. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Zack

see my post above about the vacu valve. that's what mine did. for the longest time, i thought the wiring on my stereo was bad (since that was the only wiring that had been touched)...didn't happen all the time, just every once in a while, i would hear a small explosion sound (almost a "pzzzt") and smell a sulphery type smell. replaced the vacu valve and it's been fine ever since.

Mines been doing this too on and off for a couple weeks. Smells electrical to me. We just had the truck undercoated and I was thinking the stuff they spray on was bridging a terminal somewhere and causing a short ( THWAP!!! ) maybe the coil or even the starter???
Will now check the dist vent line too. Thanks for this thread.

i thought mine was electrical too because of the sulphery smell. the vacu valve was the issue.

just pull each valve off and blow through them. they are like check valves and you'll be able to blow through one way and not the other.
