I searched and found a few opinions on this, but does anyone else have a Kaymar rear tire carrier for the OEM bumper? What are your impressions?

I don't do a lot of hardcore rock-crawling, so the OEM bumper is sufficient, but I would like to get that spare out from under there 'cause it's getting wrecked. I don't have a lot of cash to spare either, and at ~$550 the Kaymar carrier is just about the upper limit of my mod budget for a while. I'd fab one up myself, but I'm up to my neck in projects right now and it just isn't possible.

Is it strong enough to last daily driving plus desert driving, corrugations, etc.? Like I said, no serious rock-crawling, but it must be able to endure a bit of shake, rattle and roll. If it helps, I'm running BFG AT/KO 285/75/16's.

Any opinions/suggestions?

You might want to PM a MUD member--S. A. --he had one on his truck that he is actually selling in the 'for sale' part of the MUD.

I believe its on sale for $425. Looks good on his truck! I think the Kaymar might be a good choice for those of us who don't rock crawl and who merely want the convenience of the rear carrier.

Best.

Yeah, S.A. is in Jersey, and I'm out in L.A., so I'm outta luck on that.
