Saw you guys

I was sitting at a sidewalk cafe in Barra de Navidad Monday afternoon, and you guys parked in front, went in and then left right away. Must not have been what you were looking for. Then yesterday our friends who were with us saw you headed for Chapala. I live in Ajijic. How long are you going to be around? Sounds like a great trip. I just recently sold my 1968 Land Rover Series 2A. It was not a vehicle that I would have ever taken on a trip like yours though. Too rough, and parts too hard to find.

Have fun, and if you are around for a while it would be good to meet up with you.

Hello Guys,

We saw your thread on this forum. You made beautiful pictures, but we can't read Portugese on your website.
We have the same plans as you to drive between Ushuaia and Alaska, but we want to drive from north to south.
How did you ship your car around the Darien Gap between Guayaquil and Panama?
Do you have some tips for us?
Has there been places on your trip we should not go to, because it is to dangerous?
We wish you a save and beautiful trip.:)

Greetings from Rob and Nettie from the Netherlands

Hello Rob and Nettie,

we were happy to have enjoyed our journey and our pictures, we have Americans friends who use google chrome and so can translate our texts into English, a translation is not perfect but it is understandable.

Initially we had plans to send our car from Ecuador to Panama, but changed his mind and saw that there would be no need to drive through Central America twice, so we sent our car from Cartagena - Colombia to Miami.

In Panama your car can be sent to Ecuador, Colombia or Venezuela. Of the three, is the best Colombian port.

For safety had no problems anywhere. I think just use common sense, driving only during the day and always check with the locals in relation to workplace safety.

For example, Colombia has never been in our plans for everything that we heard there was problems with the drug trafficking, but after talking with many travelers find that Colombia is in a great stage and would be foolish not to go there.

It will be a pleasure to help. If you have further questions contact me.

Big hug

Leo and Dani

Hi Leo and Dani,

We tried the translation button and it works good enough, we will put that service on our own website.
Cartagena in Colombia is one of our choises to ship our campertruck to. It’s nice to hear it went well for you guys.
You helped us with your answer to go for it all the way. Thanks for that.

Have a beautiful trip.

Hello FJCRUZR,

Rio de Janeiro is a beautiful city, I am sorry to be so in evidence internationally with the World Cup in 2014 and the Olympic Games in 2016 because then the prices are getting higher. Today I can compare the price of Rio to Paris: (.

Fortunately the most beautiful things are free! A sunset in Ipanema is priceless :)

I hope you have fun!

Hugs!

Leo and Dani

Hi Leo and Dani and other Overlanders,

Did you read this fabulous news?

Crossing the Darien Gap: Ferry Service to Start Between Panama and Colombia

Greetings,

Rob and Nettie.
Rob and Nettie

We know this news, but today we talk with friends who are in Colombia waiting for the first ferry. They told us that at least one month delay from the date due to bureaucratic processes between these two countries! Hopefully resolved soon because it will facilitate the lives of many travelers!
