Hi Guys,

New to the US, Texas and here, but on the hunt for an LC100 in Houston.

Had a bit of a bad experience with a junker '05 last weekend - inspection reveled almost nothing nice! So... on the hunt again.

Came across this bad boy on craigslist: http://houston.craigslist.org/ctd/4323711629.html; which seems to be a little built, and has a Ih8mud sticker on the side. Was hoping somone might be able to shed some light on her history and maybe some info on the build.

Help much appreciated!

Sam
(PS anyone with a 100 for sale in/around Houston, up to about 20k - drop me an IM!)

I knew the guy personally. Has Slee shocks, full Slee skidplates, Rigid lightbar, Labrak roof rack and CVT awning. Pretty well built but has aftermarket axles, one of which broke on an event we went out to. The rear cross member has been removed and sold for some reason so the rear bumper is probably hanging on by a thread.

I have no idea of any maintenance that was done to it. This one was pretty clean when we went to the beach in it.

Thanks guys - have pinged him a PM to see if he has any extra information - seems like it might be worth a trip to see what's left on it after the jackals have descended.

as an aside THIS is the problem child - not unreasonably given the price, but amongst other things the power steering was leaking like a sieve, CV boots were shot and the timing belt hasn't yet been changed... Caveat Emptor.

Doesn't look like he's been on MUD for almost 3 months, so not sure a PM is going to get his attention. Try e-mail link? Strange story, showed up last summer, dropped thousands and thousands and thousands in instant mods into the rig, wheeled a couple of times, then poof, gone, truck for sale. Seems like he was looking for work, so not sure if that drove the sale? Sad if so, was a great rig in progress. Concensus here is that aftermarket CV's suck. Price is kinda high for base truck, depends on what's left on it. skids, lift, shocks, lights, rack, awning, UCA/LCA up front, had remote resevoir shocks at one time, 315's, and ??? extra mods. Might still be enough left to justify price?

Did he ever get around to installing the gears and lockers? I remember at one point he said he was doing 4.88s, ARBs and Marlin Crawler gears for the tcase. If it has all that stuff on it who knows it might be a decent deal. It seemed to me like he slapped everything on, wheeled it hard and then dumped it quick which is a red flag. Most people that spend that kind of money don't trade it into a dealer either since they can get way more selling it on an enthusiast site like Mud. Who knows - definitely kind of an odd story.

I don't want to put the man's story out there, but a PM or email will probably yield no results.

The truck is a great buy if you're in the market. As far as I know, there are no crawler gears, ARB front/rear locker nor regear. The aftermarket parts total almost 6-7k so an 01 with lower miles for 10k is a steal to me.

I'd buy it if I didn't have a 100 already.

nasty break, nice truck.

You'd find my rear end sleeping in the tuck during a rain like that.

pa flyer those 80 have a cult following sometimes similar to supra's. my friends shop had one recently sell for over 80k (twin turbo stuff).

^^debatable

He sure dumped a heap of cash into it quickly.

I would think it would be either hard or careless wheeling to break an axle and end up on a flatbed:

I agree. That 80 only has a rear locker though. $33k for that thing is absurd.

Once you buy a bumper, resale value on that bumper isn't exactly what you paid for it..... Even if you have a receipt.

There are a lot more 100s for sale in Houston than DFW, pricing seems to be a little better as well.
