Ex Aussie Army HJ47 Rebuild

Don't know about the rarest, as 215 were converted from new, but they're pretty cool. They're called a NORFORCE Troop Carrier. All HJ47's. There's a privately owned website where there's a bunch of pics of them and LR 110's. Can't recall what it is right this minute.
 
Gee that one makes mine worth a bit. Its got a few odd things, the all green dash, should be silver, and the land rover hinges on the swing out tailgate. It should be a fixed tailgate. The windows on the canvas look a bit big also.
I shouldn't pick, but it does look good.

Ahh ok so which 40 series would you call rare and Collectible?:confused: Rarest in OZ?

I was thinking maybe A BJ40 LX..

Nah there's plenty of BJ42 LX's around. I reckon an early 60's FST. There's only two that I know of. andy budge has one and so does west aussie. Unless you wanna start talking FJ25's and FJ28's, then you're talking rare trucks..

i too am very interested in what is known of these old things. who made then, where, and how many?

To who made the armys , I don't know. As said before there was 215 of them delivered from 1982-1984.
It looks like 2 different types.
FFR [fitted for radio] with the side doors for the batteries , two alternatores , 2 amp gauges and lights fitted to the roof bows in the back.
The other was the troop carrier. No side doors as mine.
I think the Army did some upgrades, Tomas PTO winches, fitted roll bars , driving lights and it looks whatever brand of bulbar the got hold off.
The ones norforce had looks like they don mods to suit themselves.
As for who did them, the wiring mods look Aussie by the gear used and also the body mods.
The odd things about them is Toyota didn't make HJ47s with bucket seats , a canvas top. The rear body is a genuine soft top by the fittings. It isn't a converted hardtop.
If anybody find more info on them please add it.
I wish I had it here in NT with me. I get my son to start it every month.

Thanks..would be interesting to know who made them and if they were painted and prepped in Australia for the Army?:confused::)
 
Awesome, some day i'm going to get a troopy, Hey in your pic's you showed a pic of the radiator in the radiator support, How wide is that support measuring out to out side the support is it 23 1/2 inches?
