Every gear change at 3000 rpm

I have a VX with the auto box.

over drive off, power button, foot flat it will alwaise change up at 3000 rpm.... feels like a wiast of 2000 rpm if I think back to my old mans GX manual that would wind up like a jet turbine after 3000!

Should I wind my neck back in or is there something I can do about this?

Is the engine cold? Ive noticed if its not warm it usually shifts at 3000, no matter what you do. If its still doing it after driving for a while then something is up, but i have no clue what.

How long has it been since the auto was serviced? The filter could be blocked. I'm not sure how they are set up but it could be a number of things. Is it a 4 speed box?
