I have made pretty good friends with a local mechanic, who just opened a garage. I have been throwing some business his way lately with my DD beater.

I would imagine he would be willing to host, but it would probably have to be on a weekend and it would be located in York (1 block from my house)..... I am not sure on the convenience factor for location for you guys. I will say something to him this week and get his initial thoughts and post up. I am more than willing to host, but I lack some of the above mentioned tools, including a lift (car and engine).

I would be willing to travel anywhere, though.

Wow, getting serious. Hmm, let me throw out a date or two? Chris, I know your schedule is pretty crammed but . . . let's try.

Sunday, July 29?

The Pig Run is August 3-4, right--that's the following weekend.

August 11-12, I'm at the beach.

Saturday, August 18? Kinda far off . . .

Location--uh, well, Chris's pad in Shippensburg will definitely need waivers but he has a garage, albeit full, but he has a garage.

I gots nuthin. Gravel driveway and lots of trees.

York--Rob's Garage?

That's about it . . . .so far....

I'm willing to host, but I'll be away for work the entire weekend before and after the Pig Run.

I also have no problem traveling if everyone decides a different location would work better or be more central. (as long as it's not the weekends I'm working of course:D)

or you guys can move ahead without me. I won't take offense!

I can give a slightly more central location if you like. I have a good amount of tools, some knowledge, 4 auto parts stores within 10 min., 2 parts stores and a beer distributor within 5 mins. and a 1.5 car garage. I would need a little notice to clear room in the garage.(A day or so.)

I do however have an overly friendly pit bull. Just FYI.

I wish I could come and play with your puppy. I'm moving saturday 28th and I think a trip anywhere is out.
:idea:Anyone that doesn't want to get their hands dirty can help me move some furniture.:flipoff2:

Sean's would be great.

I am leaving for Vacation on Sun 29th and will be back Sun Aug 5 :(

I am helping a friend move on August 11.

I would vote for Saturday August 18, as that will be sooner than ya know it. It also gives everyone kind of a heads up--Sean to clean house, the rest of us to order some parts, save some $$ for beer, etc.

How about some of you other guys for availability????
Otherwise I could go whenever :)

the 18th is *pretty* much the first free weekend for me. The following weekend is a wedding.... Grrrrr....

If I can make it, I can probably load the press in either the 80 or the trailer, and maybe some other tools if we need them. (Sean? You have air?)

Yes, I have air, 12 ton press, torch, welders, sandblaster. You'd think I was restoring a vehical or something.:D

Sounds like August 18th is the first day that works for most people. Chris--will you be settled into the new digs enough to make it that day?

I *may* tackle mine beforehand but I'm still willing to show up on the 18th to help and learn! Mine could be the case-study "after" rig if it gets done prior to that.

So far, looks like Chris Bashore, Rob, Sean (duh), Jeff, and me . . .

Chris? Anyone else? What about the Taco contingent from Marysville? Mike? Matt?

I bet I could source some Troegs for the day.

Tech day

Well, as seems to me the story of my summer, we will be hosting my sister-in-law that weekend and I will be unavailable (unless I want to sleep in the doghouse for the foreseeable future). Good luck though.

Sure you can't sneak out for a couple hours? I mean, just a couple hours, man!

:D

Well the Taco contingent may be avaialble, but will have my daughter. Dana has a bachelorette (or however you spell it) party that day.

As of right now I could come out the 18th and turn some wrenches with you fellas.
Kind of excited, this is a big part of what the ALCA should aspire to become.

You do well up there. I think you should stay on it. ;)

I know I'm a dork but I am new to the wheeling scene. I am lucky not to have the issues that Brett has, but I feel better that our little community has come together help him and others resolve their problems with their rigs. This is why I got involved with the ALCA. I wanted to meet some fun people to wheel with and share knowlege of repairing our trucks.
Actually, we all owe a beer to Jeff for putting together the ALCA and this page. Way to pay it foward Buddy.
~off soap box again~ Blame Brett for egging me on.
Oh, and screw you Jeff. no group hug this time;)

Hey, I'm really glad to find locals with the same sicknesses! This is definitely cool and I'm glad we can pull something together--if we can address Rob's and Chris's and my trucks all on the same day and have people learn some good stuff in the process, that's awesome. I'm new to Landcruisers and wheeling and ALCA is definitely helping me find my way around.

Chris--did you say somewhere else that your truck only has 90,000 miles on it?

If you're asking me, yes. Just under 90K actually. Only had 72K when I bought it 2 years ago.
I sure did f-up a pretty nice cruiser. ;)
