Ya know I thing we are takin mm a lil too serious....the whole point was to get together and shoot the s***.....I don't really care hearing about business,we can do that here on mud....I'd rather go to sonic or the esso club, eat dinner and see what you did on ur cruiser or see the latest dent in your rig......I mean Damn the rest of the world is succumbing to socializing by computers we need to socialize in person.....to me its not a waste to see friends especially if I'm only able to make meetings once in a blue moon.....I think one key is to keep them local and if there is a group out a ways I encourage u to get together and meet too....man we're a dying breed....don't throw the dirt down yet.
There are meetings "out a ways" already. It's ONSC in Jay's neck of the woods, and GA Cruisers in JP's. Unfortunately the only officer "locally" is Carp.
I agree that MM's don't need to be about business. After all, not much can be taken care of at a meeting that can't be taken care of electronically. I think the most important thing is getting together and enjoying the trucks and peoples company. I say put it on the schedule anyways, and we shouldn't get all bent out of shape because "official" business can't be conducted due to a lack of participation. And have it at an outdoor hangout to be able to talk amongst the cruisers. It doesn't have to feel like an actual "meeting". I think we can save that for the Annual and GSMTR planning meetings.
I haven't been to a MM the past few times mainly because of scheduling conflicts with family and the fact that I didn't want to bring my kid to a bar for the Pool Tourney. However, the first meeting I attended at A&P didn't feel like a real car club meeting. I spent 2 hours inside a restaurant and only got to look at Marshall's rig for 5 minutes, and then had to head back home. Just my .02, but let's keep it family oriented, and in an "open air" environment. The parts swap was awesome as we all got to hang out amongst our Cruisers and shoot the crap. I think every meeting should be just like that. Not the parts setup, but hanging out around the trucks.
Remember, this is YOUR club and you don't have to wait for an officer to schedule something to voice your opinion, concern, or willingness to have a get together. Let's remember what this is all about, having fun with Cruisers, and if anyone wants to get together let's do it. Enough with this scheduled monthly, bi-monthly thing. It feels to organized. Lets just have a meeting, post it 2-4 weeks in advanced and have fun.
And don't forget about GSMTR, it's just around the corner. After that we will have some impromptu wheeling runs to Gulches and possibly URE, along with meeting up with ONSC at Lake Jocasee in July. It's going to be an awesome season, so let's get excited about the warmer weather, wrenching on our Cruisers, wheeling in the heat, and warm summer nights Cruising!
