Well, despite the fact that it's been shown ethanol starves people by raising the price of corn, the state of NM has apparently made it mandatory for automobile gas stations to contain 10% ethanol.

It appears to be common knowledge among chain saw aficionados that leaving ethanol in the tank eats carburetor seals.

The only "gasoline" in NM that doesn't have ethanol is Aviation Gasoline.

So, can one just drive up and buy Av Gas, or how one get it?

Has anyone heard of this being a problem in Land Cruiser carburetors?

When I used to work at Double Eagle, we sold Avgas (100LL) to a few cars.

I'm not sure it's legal (it doesn't have highway taxes applied to it), but I'd bet you could get the line guy to fill up a few jugs of gas for you if you needed. A bigger FBO would not do this (so, skip places like Cutter Aviation--they definitely wouldn't sell you 100LL unless you brought them an airplane to pump it into)

That said, the price of 100LL is such that you're better off sending your carb to Mark or Jim for a rebuild 2-3 times a year. I'm only half joking about that.

Have you checked at Ever Ready Oil (Mountain & 1st street)? I bet they have some sort of fuel for automobiles that isn't corny.

I am pretty sure we might of gone to Cutter for some aviation fuel for our lawn mower. I am not a 100% sure if it was Cutter and what level of fuel. We just gave them a jerry can. The lawn mower runs really well now.

10% Ethanol has been mandated by law in Texas gasoline for a couple of years now. I think it is stupid to use food for fuel, but in truth I can't say that it has hurt anything (yet) on any of my older vehicles. I had the original Aisin carb on my 40 torn down a month or so ago, and found no problems at all with any of the rubber parts and put it all back together with all the original parts. Maybe over a long long time a 10% concentration will be detrimental, but it doesn't seem to have hurt anything so far.
