I have reached out to Equipt, but thought I'd post here to see if anyone has insight into how the 2nd row seat covers work in the area of the center arm rest.

I don't know about older models, but on the 16+ models the 60 side of the 60/40 split has a center section that can be:

1. All Up - normal for 3 person seating
2. All Down - a sort of pass thru to the rear area.
3. Split - Back section up, armrest down

So my issue with the covers is I can't figure out how to install that protects all three ways. All up is OK, all Down is OK, but Armrest only down leaves the armrest itself unprotected.

I will try to attach pics to help see the issue.

Following- I’ve got these covers on my Lx and haven’t been able to get the second row installed properly yet.

I don't have any issues with my second row, but I have a 2013 and the center section is different.

Bump.

I have contacted Equipt, who in turn are asking Escape Gear. So far nothing, but it hasn't been that long either.

Wondering if someone has an input, but missed the original posting.

Bump. Ever got response?

Uh, just ordered a set for my 2021.... looks like the armrest cover stays unprotected? Pretty lame.

Interesting oversight on their part. Just got turned on to these in another thread, interested to hear their response.

Apparently they are not providing cover for storage lid/armrest in the 2nd row. AFAIK - they are providing cover for the 1st row.

I just emailed them with the link to this thread. Let's see if they respond.

What color is the interior on your ‘21 and what color covers did you go with? Getting ready to place an order myself.

Well, so I sent one more and this time I got following response:

That’s true, at the moment we do not cover that small armrest visible when the rear centre seat is folded forward.
This is because of the tolerances of our machining capabilities and the thickness and durability of the fabric that we use.
Our thick non-stretch fabric makes it difficult to cover some smaller more intricate parts.

Based on our feedback from customers over the past years (while this pattern has been available), this has been acceptable based on the small percentage of customers that actually fold that centre seat down and use the armrest. They seem to prefer the back seat in the 3 person seat configuration which is covered in full.

We do apologise for this, but we do unfortunately have some limitations when it comes to working with this kind of fabric.

Are the cup holders still usable? Is the fabric comfortable to sit on? Would like to have this setup for my dog but don’t wants the kids uncomfortable on long road trips.

Yes, and yes. Not a kid or a dog, but I find it easier to slide out of the seat when I get out of the vehicle.

My granddaughter has ridden in the back quite a bit (some 3+ hours trips) and and never complained. She also rode in the 2017 we had with no covers, so if it was significantly worse I'm sure I would have heard about it (kids tending to be quite truthful).

I purchased the covers done in the original canvas material. The newer material also available is a poly blend that is said to have a smoother feel and be longer wearing. I just wanted the original color and I worried the poly blend might be a little hotter as the Equipt folks said it "breathed" a little less when using the front seat cooling mechanism.

Hope that helps your decision.

BTW, I still have never heard anything more on the 2nd row center armrest - pretty much the only weak point IMO. EDIT: Just read the @unclemat post above. I guess I'm one of those rarer users. I always have mine in the split mode - back section up, arm rest down.

Thanks for the detailed response, it helped immensely. I like you, also keep my armrest down as my kids use it anytime they are in the 200. I live in South and breathability is vital.

I was looking at the weathertech seat covers but they are not Airbag compatible. I could not find info. on the equip website if they were. Anyone know if equip seat covers are airbag compatible? Thanks

Check out the safety section on the EG site.
