I own a '93 LC and a week ago I tried to cross a stream here in AK and found it had washed out. I flooded it pretty good. After changing oil, oil filter, air filter, plugs and plug wires she ran great again. A few days later went on a drive and when I started her up after our outing, she started idling eratic. She revs up to about 2300 then down to normal and back and forth very quickly. At times when first started she idles up at a constant 2300+rpms then once warm goes to the eratic idling thing. Does anyone have an idea of what this problem is and how to correct it?

Help!
Thanks guys!

Please email me directly if you know the answer.

Why? This is a forum for sharing information, and that would completely defeat the purpose. Not only should people's suggestions to you be public, but of course you should let us know when you locate the trouble, thus helping the next poor fellow.

Except for the coincidence of your little escapade (what the heck were you thinking?? :D   ), your symptoms sound like Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) issues to me.

Good luck,

CJF

U need a snorkel for that stuff....:D

How long was it under water?

I'm new to forums and didn't realize that I could make the settings as such as I would know when I got a reply. The purpose for the email was simply to know when a response was posted.

Took about an hour to get a buddy there to pull, but only took 15 minutes to pull it out. Believe it or not, last year that was the prefered road going into some property I have access to. This year... it was washed out as you can now see. I went in the hard way and thought I'd take the easy way home... well... the rest as they say is history. Good thing I had the cell with me... cuz I was a long way in!

Maybe that big -ss dog was weighting you down, :flipoff2:
Are you around Anchorage, I'm in Wasilla.
Was ya prospecting?

In Talkeetna. Was out enjoying the day. Have access to some property that has an awesome view of Denali and Sleeping Lady all in one shot. Just went out to see the sites as it was a beautiful day.

Great pic - glad it was a happy ending. Did your dog stand guard for you while you went to get your buddy? I'd love to see the expression on someone's face when they come across a landcruiser half underwater with nothing but a German Shephard in the cab :D

See, and that's why Alaska is so bad ass.........if i wanted to do that (not flood my truck but get some expedition wheelin' in)i would have to search out a spot around here to do it. There, it seems it's just part of a drive.

Smooth Again

Ok... well after taking all the wires off and spraying them liberally with WD-40 nothing changed. I went to bed. Next morning, started back up and she stopped idling up and down, but still to fast. I took wires off of TPS and sprayed again. This morning started up and she is running like new. Good idle and smooth as ever. WD-40, good stuff!

Thanks guys for the advise. :D
