don't you like go to jail or get charged the $1,000,000 it costs to send the helicopter if you use an EPIRB and you are not on the ocean?

Not in Australia,but you can be sued for frivolous usage.
They should have sued that idiot that stopped the Indian Pacific train because he had run out of fuel

Here in the US if you use your unit frivolously you can go to either and/or pay a fine!
