In an ongoing search for a budget solution to cargos storage I came across these and wonder if anyone has any experience?

I just don't want to spend the money required for a full drawer system and I like the fact that these are easily removable if I need to throw the third row seats in. Looking at the mid-size model. Height is just about right to provide a sleeping platform possibility with back seats folded down.

Anyone ever bought or fondled one of these?

No experience with the EPI cargo caddy but I can tell you the trunk area is much deeper than the 33" depth of the mid-size... maybe 10-11" of space? I'm also guessing the 3/8" plywood top will bow downwards due to the 36" span.

So to use this, and be able to sleep on it, you would want to make an entire "false floor" to be placed on top of the drawer (1/2-3/4" thickness), and supported all around.

Yeah, I know it's less than perfect, probably about $600 less than perfect! But.... the next size up, while deeper, is a little too wide to fit between the interior fender wells and I wouldn't be doing lots of sleeping, but thought it might make do if I needed to roll out my bag with a pad in the ski area parking lot or something. Seems it would be better than trying to deal with the back seat!

I'd love to have one of the real drawer systems, but just can't justify the expense.

If you need a tester for a prototype on whatever it is you're releasing in the spring let me know!

You can run a cargo box for 39" from seat to sill plate. I ran mine 20" wide to leave a gap of 1" on the wheel well, but also be able to deploy one of the 3rd row seats at a time.

As for a sick drawer system... Check out Driver1407's setup... Wicked stuff!

For something more unique... Hang tight for another month or so :)

I debated doing just that for the 100s in the hills ride, but just took the second and third rows out and slept on an air mattress in the back instead :steer:
