An I missing something? If I sunk my truck and went through the effort of getting a new motor installed, I'd pay a few extra bucks and have the rest of the mechanical parts checked out. You are planning a big trip, I'd step away from the keyboard and go have a comprehensive inspection done. I wouldn't be relying on a forum to help me guess what may be wrong. Just my opinion and I hope your truck is fine.
