Hi Gang..

I have been following this forum for a while and find it very interesting.. lots of people with great ideas and knowledge about Land Cruisers.

I Have a 2004 LC with 105K miles, I am the original owner. I replaced the timing belt at 95K, I also replaced all the bearings, seals and the tensioner as well as the water pump. All with OEM parts. I also replaced the serpertine belt pulleys and the fan base. these were not OEM.

I now have a vibration more noticeable after 3Krpm it is the engine as is more rpm related indedently of gear or neutral.

the vibration is not constant, I think it comes only when the fan clutch engages. Last weekend I installed a new fan clutch (OEM) and checked that fan blades were OK.

I am suspecting that the aftermarket fan base might be the culprit but would like to see if any of you has experienced something like this and your ideas before disassembling once more..

thanks for you ideas.

Got something similar going on, however mine's not related to fan clutch. Suspecting engine, or trans mounts.

thanks for the answers, I'll check the mounts next week end.. will report findings

They may not be broken, just starting to sag enough to loose their dampening. Careful, they are not cheap.

$101 for the engine, $63 for the trans. Not too bad.

The trouble is the diagnosis. Unlike suspension bushings, the mounts are in compression and won't necessarily show separation. I'm guessing the rubber does get hard over 10 years, 100k miles. I guess R&R would be a trial/error thing.

:crybaby:you wont believe this, but i found the problem.. the hard way. While driving back from work today.. the alternator light came off and the steering wheel became hard... the shaft that holds the fanclutch in place came off the base frame... then the fan hit the radiator ... now I need a new fan base, radiator and belt... guys never buy aftermarket cheap parts.. go OEM... I did it because when changing the timing belt noticed the old base bearing has leaking some grease and my local toyota dealer did not have the part on stock..

Why would you put cheap parts on a car of this caliber? The Japanese knew what they were doing when they made these.

I understand the convenience of local parts guys. But, have the patience if you can and contact Beno or Cdan on here. They give great customer service, support our community, and killer prices. For example, Coming back from Baja last year, I tore a CV boot. I didnt want to put another 600 miles on that CV. So, I went to a local Toyota dealer in San Diego. They charged me roughly $72 for a cv rebuild kit. Through Beno or Cdan the same kit is ~$30. Yeah, you have to wait a few extra days for the parts, but the service is there. And the parts are OEM.
