Hi everybody! My LC just had a weird morning today. It wouldn't crank at all or start. Battery is fine, check engine came on at position 3 but isn't that normal? Also my oil gauge fluctuates while driving but I just got a synthetic oil change with 4k miles left to go. Please help! Thanks in advance guys

Could you hear the starter "clunking" or was it silent?

There's a few safety systems that prevent the starter from engaging, one I can think of is the neutral switch on the transmission. I don't know much about this stuff, but it might be a good idea to start there.

It wasn't in neutral. Thanks though!

The neutral switch prevents it from starting while in gear it should actually start while in neutral or park. Could be faulty preventing the rig from starting.

Do you mean oil pressure gauge? Also, what year is the truck?

Did you change the oil or did jiffy lube? Did they get filter on alway and right filter? Enough oil in there? If all that's good look at the sender on pass side looks like brass bell both wire on it? Smack the starter with mallet see if that helps. I'd take the ten min to do oil changes your self so u know it's right

I suspect the truck thinks it's not in park or neutral. Might try starting in all the gears actually, in case it's mistaken. That said, you can also try smacking the starter like he said. Just don't overdo it. I knew someone who used a sledgehammer and put a hole in his door. Somehow.

Got it done at a mom and pop shop but I trust them with my oil changes. I'll definitely try knocking the starter around. Thanks!

You can also smack the shifter with your hand if you don't think it's in park to make sure it's in park then try turning the key, usually though you can't pull your key out if it's not in park
