I posted this on my club forum but did not get much response.

Had a good time today with my buddy and his stock rubicon. We met another jeep during our break. Tough luck for the guy. On an easy short climb I saw his left rear tire spin into the and come down to a stop. Immediately heard grinding. I believe it was his pinion gear(?).

On a side note. I also had a pucker moment. During water crossing my engine shut off. It was not until the water settled that it started up. It was only to the sliders. Really not sure what happened but I feared water in the engine.

After it started I back up immediately. I felt no lack of power or abnormal engine noise the rest of the day or on the way home.

Anyone have a clue? I feared the worse like water in the engine but haven't had a single issue since Saturday.

My 2001 LX 470 is doing the same thing sometimes while sitting at a red light. Restarts up easily but, sometimes will shudder back dead when you try to give it some gas. Never gives a check engine light.

I am going to take it in for service this weekend and hopefully they find the problem.

HOw old is the fuel filter?

Maybe check your grounds? If the engine electrical grounded to the dirty water because of a bad ground, I could see that causing it to do that.

Never changed fuel filter. I'll have to keep an eye on it.

It's $20, change it. I change mine every 50k. It's $20. Takes 15min. Didn't I mention that it's cheap? Like $20. Change it.
