First a question and then my report.

Question: There is a vacuum connection on the elbow between the TB and the intake. Its a quick connect fitting but I can't for the life of me figure out what the OP used it for. Maybe to check intake vacuum or maybe intake temp. No idea. Right now I just have it blocked off.

Report: After the install it took the computer about 50 or so miles before it was finally happy. Before that time I was getting nervous because it would bog down and then speed up. But it just didn't feel right. After a few off/on cycling and the 50 miles, the truck has definitely waken up. I decided to be an a****** and rev to 4500 and drop it into "D". Normally I would never bother because its just stupid and its embarrassing. Well, I got the tire(s) to chirp. Actually chirp. I was blown away. I never thought I would see the day. When I did do this, there was no bog down, it just launched.

0-60 times I need to video to verify but I really like the speed. But where it really shines is when its doing about 30 and then punch it to pass another vehicle. The truck lurches forward and is quick to overtake. I have done nothing else to the SC install other than the install. No 2.8 pulley, no IC, no water inj, no nothing. For the cooling I did change out the fan to the 3FE fan and that seems to have made a pretty big difference in temps.

I would recommend this upgrade to everyone. It didn't cost me very much because I bought the SC for half price and install was being done since my injector(s) went out. I am working on getting dyno time and I will be doing three runs. In those three runs I will be doing the following:

• Pull with the zero-boost mod to kinda see where the truck sits without boost
• Pull with SC in full working order
• Pull with the 2.8 pulley installed

Now to find a closer dyno.

yup ;p

feels just as good revving it up at 65; reaches >85 pretty quick :grinpimp:

Got my new tool in thanks to Tools R Us.

Now changing the belt AND changing the pulley will be a breeze.

While we are at it, what could be causing this? My guess is coolant but I'm using Toyota Green. I have been losing trace amounts of coolant here and there, maybe a cup at a time. But I can't find anywhere this could be coming from.

There is no "Toyota green" so I'm not sure exactly what you are running. That does look like it could be dried coolant mist.

I know this sounds shakey and doing it is all on you. You could wet your finger and take a swipe off of that stain and then taste it to see if its bitter. If so, it is coolant from someplace.

Don't make a cocktail out of it however..............:flipoff2:

Wouldn't t be any worse than Keystone or Coors Light sir...

Just sayin....

Well did the taste test. Was neither bitter nor sweet. It was more chalky is anything. I'm pretty sure it's coolant but the spray pattern is stumping me. Only thing I can think of is the radiator cap is bad, it's misting out from under the cap, drips onto the fan and the fan flings it onto the valve cover and area.

Older coolant will be really sweet. The manufacturers started adding an embittering agent in the mid aughts to keep animals from drinking it. If it is neither sweet or extremely bitter, it is not coolant.

I didn't start my first build until 93 and its been sweet ever since my first taste  :grinpimp:

Sucky timing since I was going to go camping this weekend. The brake booster went out tonight. I can hear the air hissing when I depress the brake and of course you have to stand on it to get it to stop. Bummer. Need to track down one of those before the weekend. Should be easy to swap out. Its got 312k on it so I can't complain too much :flipoff2:

But this is the weird thing. At the same time (or at least soon after), I got the PO130 and PO133 CELs. Both Oxygen Sensors. I can't imagine both would go bad right away and I can't imagine they would somehow be related to the booster. I'll check around the search page but I don't recall ever reading anything like this.

BTW, the truck has RED coolant in it now. That's what the pink misting was. I still need to find the source of the leak and worse...I had GREEN coolant used when the motor was rebuilt. When the SuperCharger went on they needed to drain some coolant. I have the sneaking suspicion that they just added RED instead of draining and flushing to add RED. I'm bummed.

I would do a coolant flush when you find the leak issues, the modern coolants can mix sometimes if you get really lucky??

My booster went out this summer, fun times stopping. No related CEL codes, just lots of e-brake use. I only got 190k from it, I feel let down.

I got a re-man OEM (exact same everything, same brand, etc) booster from O'Reileys Auto Parts for around $250-275 after core charges. You need to keep the little piece from the old one that hooks to the brake pedal.

I would flush the cooling system completely and put one or the other back in. Green is certainly more readily available at 3 in the morning from Walmart. I run green in mine.

I have a brake booster in stock if you need one.

D-

Disregard the codes. The codes are related to the large vacuum leak caused by your faulty BB. O2's react accordingly and the computer freaks out from the feedback values. All pretty normal if the leak is bad enough.

You have a VM with tracking info.
