dude, your forum hanging skills are weak  even I know to remove the Ultragauge, and I have yet a year to go on LX for emissions in AZ :flipoff2:

I know I know. I was trying to sleep in when my wife reminded me that the smog was due in less than a week. So I just bounded outta bed and took it in. I did zero prep that the cruiser gods suggest to always do. Heck the truck wasn't even warmed up.

I took my 60 in as well. It didn't fare as well. Failed everything. Ugh. I have roughly 60 days to get that beast to pass.

I dread the day my state ever has an emissions compliance department. I swear that may be one of the best and likely only thing about living in Kansas

I forgot and also left my scangauge connected when I had my 80 smogged a couple months back. My test guy was cool about it and just moved the plug out of the way. No stink eye. Hey was a former toyota tech and LC fan.

So freaking annoyed. I haven't tracked it down but I am pretty sure my radiator is leaking. I have small puddles under the truck the past few mornings. Opened up the rad cap and had to pour in a liter of water. Damn frustrated. Truck isn't overheating luckily but now I'm looking at a new radiator potentially. If that's the case I'm heavily leaning towards going the Ron Davis aluminum. Hmm.

Didn't you put a new rad in during the big rebuild?

I would just double and triple check all the hose's and clamps, they might have finally seen enough heat cycles they need to be tightened up.

It went in less than a year before the rebuild. At first it was the hose clamps. I've gone thru them and re tightened as needed. I'll go thru again but I'm not feeling all warm and fuzzy about it.

Put some cardboard down. Go for a drive, grab a 6r, come back and park on top of the cardboard and see where the leak is. Might be a good starting point.

don't go over 13 - just sayin'

radiator on the started leaking at 12

Great thread.

Great thread for sure! The second fan you put in - is that the 3fe fan? Any thoughts now that you've had it a little while?

It is the 3FE fan that the Arizona crowd detailed as the right fan to use for oppressive heat. I can say its definitely louder than the other one and more rigid. For cooling I have noticed that overall temps are down between 4-7deg which I'm more than happy with.

I'm one of those Phoenix folks but where can I source a 3FE fan?

So I finally took the fan shroud off from the radiator and found a small crack at the lower tank. Pretty unusual to see a crack on the lower tank but at least I found it. Some FastSteel will take care of it for now but I'm going to use this opportunity to order up the Ron Davis Radiator. I need all the extra cooling help I can get so I will fork over the extra $$$ and go this route. I will do water pump, thermostat, fan clutch and radiator hoses at the same time as long as I am there. I'm also going to do a coolant system flush while I'm at it. Want to just do this once and get it over with. I will call Ron Davis in the morning but another thing I have been thinking about is having the entire radiator anodized black to help with corrosion and with heat soak. I will let them tell me if that's a good idea or not. I guess I'll order a new radiator overflow tank and radiator cap while I'm at it. Bummer. Oh well.
