Good news, not as good news

Good news: The install on my block heater was complete a week ago, they also put it in the first freeze plug, happy to hear it will be fine. FYI they charged me for an hour and a half for labor. It wasn't cold today, only in the 20's (time for those in warmer climates to snicker), but I plugged it in for about an hour while I was doing other fiddling. Start up was certainly easier, I'm happy to have this for those colder mornings.

Not as good news: The temp gauge isn't working and stays pegged at "C" all day. The engine is getting to temperature based on how much heat the heater is putting out and the fact that I don't need the choke after it is warmed up.

Thoughts on what could have occurred during install that could have caused this or are the two unrelated and do I need to search elsewhere for the failure?

Thanks in advance for the knowledge.

If is worked before and now doesn't, there might have been a wire bumped in there that could be loose. My trickiest problem was just getting down there, bumping other stuff in the process.

Thanks, I'll take a look tomorrow hoping it is an easy re-connect of something that was bumped on install. That area is certainly a mess of stuff, makes me think a desmog is a sound call at some point in the future. :hhmm: Then again, let's make it hard, buy new parts and dig in!

The temp sender on the 2f is up high on top of the cylinder head to the rear, see if the wire is loose or something.

I still haven't tracked down the ills of my temp gauge, but have noticed in conjunction my left gauge cluster light is inop and my blinkers no longer self cancel. All fuses are good and I can't see anything disconnected. My search continues.

On the good news side the rig fired right up after a couple of hours on the block heater this morning. I'm sure the new Diehard under the hood helped considerably as well.

I found this at my local Home Depot for $20, it even says it can be used with engine block heaters. More options for on/ off times than I could possibly use, designed to be outside and it has two outlets should I need to run something else on a timer. My thanks to all for the help and advice.
