If someone would be as kind as to help me out with a specific request.

I recently went through the ordeal of replacing my original starter after having worked on a few other things.

My question is, can anyone with a non-VVTI GX470 take a few pictures of the tops of the bolts holding the upper/lower intake manifold assembly (left and right) along with the correct placement of the engine bay plastic cover brackets (the zinc-plated looking ones).

I sort of rushed through re-assembly and feel like I placed a few bolts in different locations even though they were the same length. Specifically talking about those a standard hex head, and those with a torx/hex head.

Pictures for attention, from when I replaced the camshaft position sensor followed by replacing the starter and reassembly.

The good news is, it fired right up and drove just fine after replacement. The bad news is I need to go back in and repair the wire/connector for knock sensor #2.

I think I damaged the sensor itself or the connector because I had no P0330 before the starter replacement, but now suddenly have the code afterward so I'm blaming myself and will need to go back in and disassemble everything. Figured I could ensure I get the bolts all in their respective places.

I see you, friend.

Like mine (both of them), there are a LOT more VVTi specimens than not. Also, your pristine engine bay may be making some folks ashamed to lift their hoods, lol.

I'm willing to send pics of my VVTi if you think it may help, but assume your request is specific for a reason.

Good luck!

I can get you a picture as soon as the sun comes up...but the lower intake manifold bolts on with the far outside corners being a hex 12mm nut and the x6 (3 on each side) 12mm bolts with torx inside. I'm not exactly sure what you mean when you say "the correct placement of the engine bay plastic cover brackets (the zinc-plated looking ones)"...can you be more specific?

Also, I had the exact same issue as you with code P0330 after reassembly a few weeks back, ordered 2 new pig-tails. I found out that clearing the codes wasn't enough, I had to unplug the battery for a couple hours for it to take the reset, no code now for ~700 miles.

This was my transplant about 6 weeks ago:

My engine bay is far from pristine. It's simply stock as it's my grocery getter!

I would believe the bolts would be different seeing as how the manifold is composite versus cast. I appreciate it though!

Awesome I do appreciate it.

Basically a picture from each side of the engine which would show the tops of the bolts.

Normally I would methodically separate them and such, but the entire ordeal was far worse than stated -

My GX is my daily driver and it suddenly left me stranded in the driveway when I tried going somewhere. Diagnosing and ordering parts took a bit for them to arrive due to the holiday season. Car went down on a Friday.

We also have my wife's car (she works M-F) so I dropped her off to work that Monday, and had her car with me to run errands. Guess what? Her car left the kid and I stranded too of all things so two cars went down.

That rushed me to replace my starter once it arrived in one day (disabled, bad back) while using the following day to buy a new car for the wife.

It was a hectic week for sure.

Anyway, to your post. I have had the battery cable unplugged for days as I haven't driven my GX for several days until yesterday again. Starts up fine, drives fine, but starts pinging and that's when I get my knock sensor code for bank 2 again. Based on older threads, that would be the knock sensor on the passenger side? I do have a new pigtail as well as a new sensor *just in case*.

Prior to the starter going out though, I've never had any pinging whatsoever and I'm still on the same tank of gas so it can't be bad gas. I believe in my rush to reassemble everything and have a drive-able vehicle I mixed up much of the hardware on the fuel rail and/or intake manifold. I also have no doubt I may have crushed or damage the knock sensor harness while I rested on top of the engine wrestling the starter in/out for replacement.

As for the zinc-plated brackets, the brackets that bolt to the top of the intake manifold and/or side that hold the large plastic engine cover.
