Maybe I'll find one that someone jumped off a dune and totaled. Rip the seats out and send em home.
You could probably sell a bunch of them to people over here who have the slightest modicum of taste.

I'll let you know if I find any. About to spend a year in the UAE.

Bet there are a couple of LC/LX's here. Along with some other supercars.

Seats are not available from Toyota as an assembly that you can order.

Each seat would need to be “built” from pieces.

Years ago when most 80 seat parts were still available, I quoted a client a driver seat assembly from parts: $6500... in 2009 $$$

Seats are manufactured JIT. Once we had a warranty claim on a brand new Tundra... 2008 I believe. TMS took a seat off the line, crated it and shipped it to us to install.

Well that's disappointing to hear. But I'd still be able to remove the seats from any junkyard 200's in the middle east if they're in decent shape I assume.

I wonder if they are made as well or made to last like what we get. Watching some of the IG posts that come out of the Middle East it appears as if they go through cars weekly, severe abuse and tomfoolery taking part regularly.
You're seeing the unusual cases, where people bash them hard on the dunes. Most of the ones I saw doing that were lower spec and older. Mostly, the land cruiser is like the Camry as far as I can tell. It's the most common vehicle on the road. I don't know the percentage of high spec ones sold, but the sales guy I spoke with said he mostly sells the lower spec, smaller engine, cloth interior in white exterior tan interior.

I've owned 3 generations (80-100-200), my favorite is the 100, but nothing can touch a 200 when it comes to constant abuse. Its extremely durable. Most people who don't know the 200 are quick to judge because it doesn't look as rugged as its predecessors but underneath its the beefiest and most heavy duty from experience. The 300 definitely has big shoes to fill durability wise but I have no doubt toyota will deliver.

Here is my friends 2008 UZJ200, its one of the most abused land cruisers I've ever seen, he drives them hard but its also been his most reliable. He doesnt want to upgrade to a later 200 because he feels after 12/13 years of ownership it would feel strange getting the same vehicle again, so he's waiting for the 300.

Made in Tahara - 3.2008.

How come it’s so rusted in a dry desert climate?

Qatar is humid most of the year and its a peninsula which means its surrounded by the water from 3 sides, so you're never really too far away from the sea.
Its not the dry desert you have in mind. However that's not to say you can't find rust free rigs with clean undercarriages (my 100 is new compared to this 200). It just depends how the vehicle was cared for and where it was mostly driven.

This specific 200 was never rust proofed and has spent lots of time being driven in an area called inland sea (google it), so its seen some minor salt water crossings, also add to that when the undercarriage gets sand blasted (and it does really easily), surface rust quickly forms on the exposed metal.

Lots of people rustproof the undercarriage to protect from it and we have undercarriage power washes. It depends how you care for it and where you spend most your time driving it.

I'm on top of it with my personal trucks and they are always clean and rust free.

It has rust behind the tailgate weatherstrip.
Not surprised considering its been exposed to salt. The owner isn't really concerned because the moment the 300 comes out he is selling it and moving on. He says it served him for almost 13 years, he isnt gonna start taking extra care of it now.
He usually gets the first model year of each generation and only replaces it once the next series comes out. Doesnt care for facelifts.

Interesting that the skid plate is different, it has what look a lot like NACA ducts in it. I wonder if that is a warm climate spec that differs from the ones we get in the US?

That is exactly what the sales guy in Doha told me - he said once the 300 comes out, he expects Qatari's to dump their 200 and snap up the 300. He said that is what happens every time a new model of the land cruiser comes out. People there want the latest and greatest.

Why do we need to replace the seats? Can't we just remove the seat skins? I think that would be a cheaper alternative and more cost saving for shipping??? When I had to warranty my driver seat, they replaced the lower seat skin, not the entire seat.....

I lived in Doha for 2 years in the mid 2000s. We had a saying "You are not a Qatari until you drive a White Land Cruiser" They are seemingly like every 4th car on the road. They used to be, it's been 14 years or so since I lived there but I guess it's the same.

Not Qatar, but here in Abu Dhabi and Dubai every 4th vehicle is a Land Crusier.

Yes, pretty much all over the ME. In Qatar 9 out of 10 were White. I have not been to Abu Dhabi and Dubai in 13 or 14 years and they were experiencing explosive growth back then, I can't imagine what is like now.
