I need some help this weekend. I know it's short notice, but if anyone can make it to Fort Mill I'd certainly appreciate it. I've ordered a plethora of parts that should be here in time according to Travis at RHT: radiator with hoses, tune up stuff, a fuel filter, new belts and a valve cover gasket. Also, I'm in the process of trying to figure out why I have a low idle and very slow acceleration (before you say it, I know the 62 is slow but this is not normal).

I haven't been able to find a vacuum leak and I've changed the fuel pressure regulator and the two connectors on either end of the intake hose. No change in idle. I'm stuck, frustrated and don't feel comfortable driving it, but I gotta get to work.

The check engine light is not on but I've heard that some codes will not always turn it on. I'll let you know what I find out. Again, any help would be greatly appreciated.

I just advanced the timing on mine and, WOW, what a difference.I went almost all the way in the slot, Runs great off idle, but has a slight miss at idle. don't go quite that far. This will also raise the idle.

Thanks Benke. Tonight I'm going to go through the fuel injection stuff in the FSM. We'll see where that gets me.

Don't forget to replace the fuel filter, can cause the symptoms you decribed......that and driving the 100 and switching back will make it feel like somethings wrong.

I've got a filter on the way. It's going to be a busy weekend. I'll be first timing most of this stuff. It's just weird because there's so many things it could be.

Sort-of, but not really.

I did the tune up--plugs, wires, cap and rotor and replaced the fuel filter under the hood--and that helped the idle problem alot. But, it's not totally gone. Marshall suggested another experiment that had to do with the brake master, but that didn't show any promise in the end. I have not checked the timing, but I can't find that hole to save my life. Not to mention I don't have a light. I still haven't ruled out an electrical or vacuum problem but I can't put my finger on either. the only other thing I can think of besides faulty injectors is the filter on the fuel pump itself inside the tank. Obviously I haven't gone far enough to pull the tank and inspect. I'm not pulling any codes...they're clear.

Still haven't done the radiator as there were two hoses on backorder. They've come in now so that project is just around the corner. I'll do the belts at the same time. probably do the valve cover gasket then too.

If I can make it to thanksgiving week, I have the whole week off so it won't hurt me to have it laying all over the garage floor for a few days. We'll be visiting family Wed.-Sun. so the first part of the week should be enough time, considering I have to reference the FSM and mud as I go on every project I take on.

I'll make sure I have plenty of beer and smokes and take it one at a time...that's whaaaat it's aalllll aaaabout! [in your favorite "hokie pokie" voice]

Thanks for asking! I make it do what it do...

Thanks. I guess I should drive the 62 instead of the 100.:steer:

This may sound basic, but have you checked the air filter for blockage? I was having similar symptoms on an old Tacoma and it turned out to be hay clogging the intake . . .

Thanks David! I have checked it, but please don't hesitate to remind me of the simple stuff in the future. I forget these things most of the time.
