hey yall,

happy turkey day, i wanted to get everybody’s take on getting golden emblems for my truck. they currently have the silver emblems but i would like to make them gold, should i use a gold spray paint, or should i buy oem gold emblems, i found a kit on eBay that has all the rear emblems, but they are pretty expensive, like about $360, and the front is like $75 or something, what do yall recommend?

If you have a time machine handy, you can scoot on back to the '90s when "gold packs" were in style. Otherwise, maybe remove, scuff, rattle can... repeat in 2 years.

I have a friend who owned a body shop back in the day, he used to make money turning chrome emblems gold with a machine that would use electrolysis. He would do them right on the car, using a brush and some solution. Of course, it would only work on metal based emblems.

what do yall recommend

Silver emblems ;). The gold on my 80 serries (port installed) began to fail over time and looked tired after a while. I would not use gold spray paint - I think it may be a disaster and not last long, either.

Dude, if you want gold emblems you need to cough up the cash lol

I actually do like the gold emblem look, IDK why. One of my first cars was a Honda Accord with the gold , made me feel classy as ****

But honestly probably not worth your money or effort to replace. It would suck if you ended up screwing up paint or mounting or anything like that while doing the swap.

I have a front one for the 98-02 LX. It needs to be redone (slightly faded from being 24 years old), but if you want it send me a PM and we can work it out.

I’ve painted over the gold on mine about once every 5 years- it keeps coming back and my rattle can method is far from pro level but i can’t see why anybody would prefer the gold.

Didnt they make a black version?

Some folks just like the look of it. I like seeing a 100 series rolling down the road with gold, especially when paired with those nice darker color schemes like the green and maroon cruisers.

Gold = classy
Black = lame

thanks for all the replies, boys, i decided that i might just keep it silver for now, but i will say that it's best to keep it the way it is
