I am doing a full engine rebuild. i have been thinking of an electric fuel pump conversion. after searching, most advice seems to be stay with the mech fuel pump, and possibly elec as a back up.

if i do go with an elec, what is the max input the carb can stand with a desmogged toyota carb? i have a Holley High Flow that isn't put on yet.

can i get rid of all the charcoal canister and extra lines if i run a new vent line?

thanks

Really depends on the Carb. Holley's like up to 7-8 psi. Webers never want more than 4 psi. No idea what the stock carb will want. Suggest using a by-pass type regulator rather than the more common Holley dead-head type regulator. The by-pass feature will help with any vapor lock tendency and is why the stock pump has three hoses.

If you can find one I highly suggest using the switch that GM used on Vega's to control their electric fuel pumps. Plumbs into the oil pressure galley of the engine and has 3 terminals. IGN in, Start In, and Pump power out. That way the pump only runs during cranking and when the engine has oil pressure. They used to be common in parts houses (never had one fail though), now I don't know.

Charcoal canisters area good thing, they keep you from smelling raw fuel on a hot day and keep the gasoline vapors out of the air that we all breathe.
