I am looking at picking up a travel trailer with a dry weight of 3,500 and a loaded weight of about 1k pounds more. Plan to add an electronic brake controller to my '06. Searched through some threads last night and found some helpful info but did not see anything very recent. Any updates/tips/suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

No advice or suggestions on the actual install, but the Tekonsha P3 works very well. Not too expensive either (as low as ~$135 online).

It's also sold under the Draw-Tite and Reese names for ~$200.

I installed a TBC a few weeks ago in my 05 LX. I followed these (very) good instructions and everything worked fine.

You can hardwire the TBC in but it is easier if you pick up a harness. I ordered mine from Trailer hitch, hitches and bike rack (800)298-8924

It took about 1 hour (working at a careful pace).

Thanks! Did you get a witing harness to plug into the mentioned module behind/under the dash? The wiring kit that they are showing on the web site looks pretty complex and includes the 7 pin connector which I already have.

I had an older Valley Odyssey controller that I took out of my Explorer (which the LX replaced :)). They did not have an adapter that I could plug into the harness under the dash AND into the harness on the Odyssey controller. However they did have one that plugged into the harness under the dash and I just cut the harness off of the controller and spliced the wires together. Everything is color coded so it was pretty simple.

If you are planning on using a Tekonsha product they may have a harness that will connect the TBC to the plug under the dash. The sales staff at etrailer is really helpful and if you can't find it on their website, I would call and they can get you what you need.

Outstanding! Just called and placed the order, very helpful!
