Any tricks to getting the EGR working properly? needs to pass emissions test.

Does it hold a vacuum if you connect a hand pump to the top vacuum port? The engine should stall if you do it while running. The NO high?

If you know the EGR is not working(you can visually confirm this with a mirror), take a look at the plug with two blue hose stubs that connect to what I guess are vacum lines. The plug, I believe, thermostatically controls the EGR. It is located below the thermostat housing on the driver's side.

I have seen the metal tubing portion coming from the pcv valve and the egr valve clogged with junk. You may need to remove #46 in the image below and clean it out. Other then that be sure all the lines are hooked up properly.

Everything is hooked up properly---didn't pass emissions---I did the vacum test and it stalls the engine, so I am assuming it is working? tomorrow I will remove #42 and clean it out before going back for a re-test. Also going to add two bottles of HEET.

What are you failing on during the emissions test? The test at idle or on a dyno? That means the EGR valve probably is fine. Also it should hold vacuum too and returns to a smooth idle right after pulling the hand pump vacuum line off the EGR. Now you need to see if the EGR is actually getting a vacuum to open and close it. You can put a vacuum gauge on the hose going to the top and rev the engine and see if you get a vacuum. Use the instructions to test it in the factory emissions manual if you have it.

Found the solution: registered the vehicle in a different county (non-emission) yeah!!!
