Hey you LJ78 guys.... I have a couple of "new to Prado's" questions.

What does ECT stand for and what exactly does the switch do. Does it control shifting speeds or something like that?

Also do the front axles need to be greased at the steering pivots? I don't see nipples in the area.

Are AUTOMETER gages ok or should I spend more $$? Want to add the pyro, water temp and boost press. Just installed a new "built up"
3 core rad (for big bucks) I'd like to get as much time out of this orig head as possible.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.:)

Yeah, I assume ECT stands for "Electronically Controlled Transmission." It essentially changes the shift point. I leave mine on all the time, as it seems to keep the EGTs down while making the truck more fun to drive, better on hills, etc.

Autometer gauges should do the trick, but the ISSPROs are nicer. Are you going to be playing with the boost? If not, you may not need a boost gauge. The dash turbo light will tell you if you're overboosting. I think the green light comes on at around 3 lbs boost and then turns red on overboost. Never seen the red, myself. Still, it would do no harm to put a boost gauge on there if you like.

Don't have an answer on the steering pivots question. I'll have a look at my chassis maual when I get home. At any rate, I haven't touched mine.

Thanks for the input. Ive found the ISSPRO pyro , now just have to figure out how to install it. How is your probe installed? Is it threaded in or do you have a boss welded on? I understand the best location is about 1 to 1.5 inches aft of the turbo outlet in the elbow.

Someone was telling me about a water temp alarm/warning light setup that sound like a nice idea. The thing with that would be knowing the danger zone temp and getting the correct temp switch/probe. Does anyone run one of these?

I think I'll skip the boost gage as you suggested. Don't want too much to be lookin at.
