Greg Smith equipt was having a blow out sale on the 10K winches so i FINALLY bought one for my car hauler- WHY didn't i do this year ago. Oh yeah, because these winches from Warn & such were big $.
The biggest problem i have read about with these winches is people breaking them inside when trying to'release' the cable for free spin. i found i don't need to do that. this thing goes out so fast there is no need to.
i hid the whole thing inside a metal box i had been saving for years. Had to put a hump in the top(lid) of it to clear the control box on top of winch.
after 100% confident of the mounting and function of it, I put a tack weld on two of the four bolts holding it down so that it should always be there when i need it.
I found a site on ebay selling the high amp connections and I ran #2 battery cable from the positive of battery all the way back on 2of my 3 of my tow vehix, that was a bit costly. so on #3 I used two pieces of #8 soldered together that I got for free and it works just as well. Used it several times in the past several months and am very happy.
