In researching this head unit, (Google and Mud posts), it appears that it comes with an OBD2 connector, which is potentially really cool to see codes or monitor things on the 16" screen. I'm wondering how good this really is though. I currently run with an OBD2 wifi reader installed and use an iPhone app but I had to buy a couple Toyota specific PIDs to get what I wanted. I could always just swap the dongles if I really needed my iphone PID data. Does anyone who has installed this head unit have any feedback on the ODB2 data?

Bumping this. EC Offroad unit comes with a BT OBDII dongle. I'd really like to hear from anyone who has used this. There is another Australian company (Custom Car Stereo Systems) that sells their PX6 Tesla style units that provides a OBDII/USD dongle that uses the USB to connect to the head unit. That would seem a lot better in that doing it that way would allow you to have OBDII data on the head unit display while BT'd to a phone or other device. Probably faster too. What I want to know/understand is if the OBDII data functionality is baked into the firmware or if it is just on an OBDII app on the head unit. If the later, there may be options for using different OBDII dongles.

Would also like pics of what people are displaying on the head unit for OBDII data.

Bumping this as well - I know the OP had specific questions on the OBD2 functionality, but has anyone used this unit in general, and have feedback?

Thanks!

Got my EC Off-road unit yesterday. It will be a few weeks until I am able to install it. I don’t see any BT OBDII dongle in the box and it needs to be purchased separately.

I would like to go with a USB OBDII and will try that. I think it should work. Found this on YouTube.
