Worked!. It was butt simple. I slid the passenger seat all the way forward. Took the screws out of the plastic protector. Opened the dvd and popped the old dvd out. Slid the new dvd in. Well I had to slide it in 3 times... but on the third day...third time... I hit the I agree button and the gps correctly found my house! For the first time my house was on my street and not in the middle of a field. I will be buying the west coast dvd soon.

upgraded to 12.1

How much did it cost on Ebay? Also what year LC?
 
It worked for like 4 starts and now it says disc error. Contacted seller and he now says only OEM will work in 2001 and 2002. Now seeing if I can return for refund.

Not sure where this leaves you WRT restoring nav functionality, because upgrades aren't backward compatible, at least according to Toy/Lex fine print, and I haven't personally tried to reload an earlier disc after installing an update. Let us know if your old OEM disc will reinstall and function. You might need to shell out the $169 for the latest legit disc and hope the pirate disc didn't screw with the nav systems firmware.

That sucks! Hope it can be brought into submission - keep us posted? - and hope the ebay one works in my '03 as the seller claims. Film at 11.

Too bad, hope that it either starts working for you again or that you get you cash back (the site did have some return policy info and the guy has a good ebay rating, so there's hope!).

Anyone have experience with the OEM update for $169?

If it's much improved over the 2002 version, I might not mind spending the $$$.

Thanks for checking back with your results. I had the same item on my Watch list in Ebay. Now I think I'll pass. Good luck with a refund!
 
We talked and he did say he would refund when I return the disc. The old disc is back in and working. Should have ebay disc back in the mail tomorrow. We will see.
 
Just put mine in and it has survived 4 starts and some fiddling with the preferences. Haven't actually driven anywhere yet but any failure and I'll inform. So far so good. Went from version 2.1 to 12.1. No wonder I was getting lost on my way home from work!
 
Any updates on these ebay Nav DVD's guys? i just bought an '04 and am looking at updating the software. thanks.

ebay one is cheap, and it also looks like the same seller but using a different "name" selling them through Amazon as well.
 
Mine's still working just fine as far as I can tell, but he does specify '03 and that's what I have.
