I know a few of the Ironman Protector bars are out there on the board. Can anyone tell me whether or not the chrome hoops are removable? I know they are one piece. I'm just wondering if they can be removed altogether, or if they're welded on.

I want to order a bumper for the :princess: and I either want chrome hoops or no hoops, but can't decide which. I figure if they are removable on this bumper, then that makes it an easy decision.

Ok, I called, and they said it's all one piece, but I'm not convinced. The guy on the phone didn't sound very confident in his answer.

I have a hard time believing they can chrome the hoop and powder coat the rest all in one piece.

I left a message with MetalTech too, hopefully they will call me back and give me a definitive answer.

The mystery continues. Spoke to a guy at IPOR, and he stated quite confidently that the chrome hoops are bolt on. However he then asked which bumper I was asking about when I asked for a price...

I've been scouring the net trying to find a picture of the back of a bar to see if I can just see for myself, but no luck thus far.

If they have hoops, you can always use a sawsall or grinder. You can get black plastic caps from McMaster-Carr to cover the holes too.

Alright, finally got to the bottom of this with Mark from MetalTech's help. The hoops are *stainless* not chrome, they ARE removable, and if you really don't want them at all Ironman offers the bar without hoops in the first place.

I'm going to go ahead and order a regular bar with the hoops. The :princess: says she likes the looks of the polished stainless hoops. I'm undecided, but now we know that if we get it and really don't care for it we just have to unbolt them.

Hope this helps someone else in the future
