what tires ya got now?? those crawlers still looked good.
Howdy! I thought they were holding up pretty good for 4 years of use, but one of them decided to pop a fatal flaw on the Beeline Hwy while heading up to the Fossilll Creek cleanup day. Shredded the right rear by the time I could stop from about 70 mph. Never really figured out what made it go flat, but that was that! Discount covered it with no hassles. They had just done a balance and rotate about 3 weeks before. I bought a second one, so the LockRight in the rear would stay happy. Now I have a much better spare than before. FWIW, the manager said he had never seen or heard of a Krawler doing that, so I figure I will stay with that tire. John

I'll be there with my "just turned 4 yrs old today" daughter as the (backseat...) co-pilot. So count 1.5 of us toward the total attendees...

(As a side note, I figured out the other day that her car-seat, in the middle of the back bench seat, is in the absolute best place to sit in a Cruiser off-road... It's at the center of rotation in just about every direction, so sitting there, she gets bounced around the least of all of us. Also, that position has the most sheet metal between her and whatever might come in contact with the Cruiser... "Suddenly, it all becomes clear...")

Hey, Don -

The speckled dog and I are definite maybes....

Any word from Jessa and Dan?

That's why everyone tells you to mount the baby buckets there backwards when the youngin's are babies. Personally I try and mount my daughters seat up on the roof somewhere ;)

Hi everyone, I am new here, but would like to attend. I have a stock FJ62 and would be taking one person with me if at all possible. Let me know. Thanks

ckaya84 just show up on saturday morning at the dealership. you should have no problems on this run.

Count me in as 2.5. I have invited a friend but he hasn't confirmed yet...

earhardt update

My contact at earnhardt mentioned that he needed a couple of seats in our rigs for camera action. It seems they will be submitting photos to a landcruiser magazine. I am sure between the FJC crowd coming along with the Copper State crew we will be able to seat a few extra butts. My rig won't be there in body, but will be there in spirit. I may need some help with a few spotters through the canyon. I am not sure how many new people will attend. thanks again for the great response. I think this will be a good thing to show the dealerships. We may be able to draw more attention to clean ups and trail etiquite

maybe we can hit the dealership up for a discount for CSC members on parts similar to the TLCA some dealers honor??

I'll have at least one seat in the 60 and will be able to spot as many as required. My suggestion is to send the spotters in first to get set up and ready the dealership photogs caride in with the spotters to get set up for all the pics they need.

Photos of the day - Part 1

Here are my first batch of images of today... More to follow. Apologies that I don't know everyone's rig by sight, and so can only caption things generally...

First, it was the meet-and-greet at Earnhardts Toyota at Superstition Springs Auto Mall (there, that should make our hosts happy... :D ) I would guess there were about 20+ rigs there... Did anyone get an accurate count?

Then it was the "high-speed chase" to Florence (thanks, BMan... ;) I'm glad of my turbo-charger and 5-speed... My old gas, 2F, 4-speed, FJ60 would have never kept up!).

Then, onto Price Rd. to air down, all in line, followed by a drive up to the Box in "brown-out" dust-bowl conditions.

Finally, we all lined up at the mouth of the canyon.

Then...

The first "obstacle" was not made by Nature, but by humans... A big blue "tin-can" was wedged between the rocks, after being somewhere it shouldn't have been...

Notice the Toyota doing the work... to rescue a Ford... and a Jeep sitting there unable to be much help... :D

Then it was up and through the canyon... Sorry, I didn't get any photos in the "box"... My daughter kept telling me to "put down the camera... and stay with the Cruisers, Daddy!"

What can I say about seeing all the "daring-do" on "Red Hill"... Unfortunately, I can't post my videos here on the forum, but I'll see if I can figure out a convenient way to make them available on the web, and post a link back here soon. The still photos just don't do justice to the capabilities of all the vehicles that went up and down this, especially the FJC's, even the burgundy one that looked nearly stock... Bravo to all of you...

When we got to this "last little obstacle", it ended up being the hardest of the day... I have no idea how that Ford pickup would have made it up this, much less made even this far.

Thanks, BMan and the other CSC principal players for a great job of spotting/directing, and giving a helping hand to those of us who needed it (yes, not just the H3, but my 60, and a few others who shall remain nameless, had to have a friendly "yank" up and over the last bit of this ledge... gotta put "lockers" on the to-do list for the Cruiser... :o )

It was heart-stopping at a couple of points for this newbie, but much fun nonetheless...

And thanks to the friendly observer who helped watch my daughter :princess: while I tackled this tricky bit. I didn't get a chance to catch your name, but greatly appreciated the help...

Photos of the day - Part 4 (end)

And, obviously, there were plenty of rigs set up "just fine, thank you" to tackle this little speed bump, and *didn't* need anything more than a bit of line spotting from BMan to walk their way up this step...

The 80, and several others, made the step look like a walk in the park... well done

And, though I am a committed LC fan, that 4Runner was beautiful on this obstacle... kudos.

And, of course, in acknowledgement of our hosts, Earnhardts, and the FJC owners, the FJC's were very impressive here as well. Even the nearly stock ones firmly put my 60 in its place in history.

Thanks again to BMan, Don/DRDoor and everyone who made this such a fun first "trail" outing, for my daughter and I, with the club... Go CSC!
