Hey everyone. I'm planning on retrofitting a stock oil centrifuge onto my 1989 2H. The filter assembly itself seems to be available for order from Japan, but the bracket isn't.

Centrifuge filter assembly is 15500-77011.
Bracket is 15609-68020.

I'd like to ask if someone can either source me a bracket (possibly with the oil spinner, I'm paying for shipping as well of course), or if you have one – measure and share the critical dimensions so I (and others) could just draw up a model and send it to a CNC shop. I'll share the bracket model in both cases.

I've read in some other post that it might be easy to find it in a junkyard in Australia, but after all these years I have my doubts about it stull being the case.

Can anyone please help me out with this one?

The "bracket" is in fact an alternative oil filter housing.. it will only fit on an early 2H and replaces the existing factory oil filter housing. The machining effort to replicate this would be significant. These are not difficult to come by in Australia but aren't really worth the effort of fitting if you're doing 5,000klm oil changes. I removed one my main travel vehicle as I was having trouble getting it to seal perfectly.

You could just alternatively fit a "bypass oil filter" if you wanted to extend out your oil service life. If you follow the link in by bio below to my diesel site and scroll down to "Oil Centrifuge" you'll see links to more images and some part numbers - the part numbers don't include the oil filter housing you see below.

Thanks, just looked up the part numbers and pictures for the oil cooler housings -- they're indeed different on two engine generations.
1632368010 and 1632368020, the flange is smaller on the latter and has what seems like two additional holes for bolts/studs. One of the passages (central tubular one) is also in different location.

I hoped they're interchangeable. So people who ditch the spinner also change their oil cooler to a later part number?

Maybe, but I'm willing to try it anyway :) I possibly can come up with an adapter to accommodate the differences between flanges.

I thought about it as an alternative -- buying an RG020 Chinese centrifuge for ~100$ on alibaba, but then during my search I discovered that some 2H's had the exact thing I thought about retrofitting in the first place :) An RG020 will require a separate base flange and additional oil lines, which is suboptimal given my discovery, even if it's cheaper.

The stock spinner has O-rings issues?

aren't really worth the effort
Practically -- true, I'm also doing it 5k km each. But I'm a man-child who wants a weird rare toy so I can feel good about myself :) And I bet scraping out the sludge each oil change and thinking how careful of an owner I am will make me even happier 😁

No, there's two versions of the oil filter housing for the early 2H.. one that has the centrifuge on top and one that doesn't. I'll try and get some photos in the next few days of the two versions.

It was fine from the factory.. just after a 40 year service life the outer sheet metal cover that slips down sometimes gets dented.. its difficult to make it seal after that. That was my experience.

I totally understand and respect this! the sludge is nasty, here's some from a 2H I bought years ago. I suspect the centrifuge hadnt been opened since it left the factory

oh my, poor little thing

Carmarka quoted me 232 USD for a whole new spinner assembly, which sounds like a bit of a lot but then I realized that it's the same price for 2-3 oil changes. But then it's an open question whether the thing is really still in stock – I'm reluctant on placing an order before I know I can have a bracket.

Appreciate that, thanks
